The Gambian Association:
The association was founded on August 19, 1999 and is for Gambian-American citizens living in New England. It is a non-profit organization which supports, recognizes, promote the interest and welfare of our people. We are committed to a strong community and a rich cultural value for our children. We wish to solicit your generous contribution to raise funds to acquire a co
mmunity center building for our community activities in Rhode Island. With the acquisition of this real estate our organization will have a secure building to house our ongoing programs, such as:
•After school programs,
•Cultural awareness programs,
•Religious practices
•Social activities. Over the years, we have developed a reputation for not only being Gambians in Rhode Island, but we've consistently engaged is creating needed resources through partnerships with all Gambians to help Gambian-Americans families in times of need. We have resolved to continue this practice for generations to come. With the acquisition of this building, we believe, we will attain additional financial resources to help us carry out our mission to facilitate relief in times of need for our community in Rhode Island. We are therefore requesting your generous contribution of any amount to help secure the required down payment for the acquisition of our well needed community center. Our community members already identified a building in Woonsocket, RI. We have entered into a contractual agreement to purchase the building. The needed down payment is estimated at $45,000. To-date our local monthly membership contributions is $10,000. These funds are in the association’s bank account. We must raise an additional $35,000 to close this transaction and your financial support is urgently needed.
