The Compassionate Friends Providence Chapter

The Compassionate Friends Providence Chapter We are a national, nonprofit support organization offering friendship, understanding, and hope to families who are grieving the death of a child.

Welcome to the Providence Chapter of The Compassionate Friends (TCF), a national, nonprofit support organization that offers friendship, understanding, and hope to families who are grieving the death of a child of any age, from any cause. The secret of TCF’s success is simple: As seasoned grievers reach out to the newly bereaved, energy that has been directed inward begins to flow outward and both

are helped to heal. Our vision is that everyone who needs us will find us and everyone who finds us will be helped. There is no religious affiliation and all are welcome.

Thank you to our friends in North Attleboro who have kindly invited us to join them at their candle lighting event tonight. Please see details in the image posted here.

Anyone who wishes to attend may bring a 5 x 7 photo of their child to display and join with others who understand the pain of losing a child.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Tonight's Candle Lighting ceremony is canceled due to the close proximity of the church to where the shooting took place yesterday at Brown University. The Providence Police have declared it an active crime scene and urge people to stay away. There is no parking on the street and the church itself is closed.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the two Brown students who were killed in yesterday's tragic shooting, as well as our care for the survivors and all affected by this tragedy. We are here to support you in any way we can.

We encourage everyone to take part in the worldwide wave of light by lighting a candle from the safety of your home at 7 pm in honor of our beloved children.

Thank you to Betty and Steve Koczan for this lovely message:
John's Christmas Tree is up at Slater Parks Winter Wonderland. We dedicate this tree every year to our son, John Anthony Koczan and the Angels of Compassionate Friends. Over 120 Angels grace the tree. 650 trees are on display along with cottages and decorations throughout the park. Lights are lit from Saturday, December 6, to New Year's night. On Dec. 6, 7, 13, and 14, cars cannot drive through the park. The Wonderland is in full swing with Santa, hay rides, train rides, carousel, entertainment and refreshments. This is a cash only event if you choose to participate in any holiday activities. From the Newport Avenue exit there is a parking lot if you come on those nights. John's Tree is on the left. It's next to the Broadway Tire cottage. Happy Holidays.
