On this World Mental Health Day, I want to honor two lives whose journeys deeply impacted our family, became part of our personal testimony, and continue to remind us of the importance of faith, compassion, and caring for the whole person. 🤍
My husband, Ray, walked through years of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) before receiving his diagnosis. My precious mother-in-love, Mrs. Barbara, lost her life to su***de after privately struggling with profound grief over the loss of her first born son, along with depression.
Two different journeys. Two deeply loved lives. And through both, the testimony of the faithfulness of Jesus. ❤️🔥
Neither a diagnosis nor a struggle defines a person’s worth, identity, or purpose. Both Ray and Mrs. Barbara were so much more than what they faced, and their lives continue to carry significance beyond their time on earth.
Our desire is not to magnify suffering, but to bring awareness, encourage the renewing of the mind, advocate for holistic brain health and well-being, and champion wholeness in spirit, soul, and body. 🙌
We believe that faith and compassionate care belong in the same conversation. Renewing our minds, caring for our health, seeking support, and walking alongside one another are all meaningful parts of living well.
Through it all, I have witnessed the faithfulness and goodness of God, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3–4). He remains present in our pain, brings hope in the midst of hardship, and makes beauty from ashes.
Today, may we be reminded to love deeply, listen intentionally, care for our minds and bodies, and extend the hope of Jesus to those navigating battles we may never see.
