Deborah's Legacy Deborah's Legacy is a Christ-centered, restoration program for women healing from addiction, crisis living and homelessness.

Deborah’s Legacy functions without 24-hour live-in staff, relying on residents to create a supportive community. Residents share daily tasks, build on each other’s strengths, and provide compassionate, disciplined support. New residents are given a key and are offered the necessary resources to maintain recovery, heal from childhood wounds, improve physical health and find employment.

Lord, bring comfort where there is grief and healing where hurt remains. Help Legacy to be a place where no one has to walk through those things alone. Amen.

Nanette had been praying for stability, security, support and peace. After being baptized, a pastor encouraged her to apply to Deborah’s Legacy. But when she got here, peace felt unfamiliar.

After years of chaos, the loving atmosphere was difficult to trust. She considered leaving before realizing that what felt so unfamiliar was what she had been praying for.

Today, she describes Legacy as a place to slow down, grow in faith and learn to call home.

“Today, I am watching prayers become reality. I am working, serving in my church and with young people, growing in my recovery, and stepping into a home of my own. Those may look like ordinary things to some people, but to me they are evidence of a God who restores.” —Valarie

Valarie recently shared that she didn’t always welcome the meetings, chores, accountability, or hard questions at Legacy. Looking back, she sees how God used those everyday experiences—and a community that kept showing up—to help her heal and believe her life still had purpose.

“I have learned two words that continue to anchor my life: He can.”

Why do we send each other pictures of thistles?

Deborah's Legacy drew inspiration from Thistle Farms in Nashville, where the thistle is a symbol of survival and healing. Often dismissed as a w**d, it holds beauty and purpose that are easy to overlook.

So when someone in our Legacy community spots a thistle, a photo often follows. This one captures butterflies and a moth sharing the same flower - a reminder that Christ meets us right where we are. We don't have to look alike or have the same story to be welcomed and loved.

Lord, help us see each person with Your love. Meet those who are hurting where they are, and help us welcome them with that same care. Amen.

THE COFFEE ☕ : An idea written on a napkin became a coffee roaster installed in the fall of 2022. Today, the women at Legacy roast every small batch in-house.

Available whole bean or ground, our coffee creates opportunities for residents to earn income and build work skills, while proceeds support the program. Through roasting, packaging and marketing, women learn a craft in a community that supports their healing. Every purchase supports the women we serve.

From 2 oz. gift sizes, to 12 oz. and 5 lb. bags, coffee is available at 419 N Dewey, with wholesale pricing available for businesses and organizations.

Sometimes, being Made New means a familiar word takes on a whole new meaning.

Recently, a resident shared her anxiety about returning to a place she had always called "home"... a place connected to crisis, brokenness, and addiction.

Another sister bravely prayed aloud for the first time, asking God to bring her safely back home. In that moment, the resident realized that "home" now meant Deborah's Legacy - a place of hope, safety, and companionship.

Lord, let this Home be a place where trust grows, friendships deepen and women know they belong. Amen.

Each morning during devotions at Deborah’s Legacy, we take turns lighting a candle and saying this prayer out loud.

Wherever you are, join us in praying for the woman trying to find a path through the darkest night and for those still suffering from addiction. If you have a candle, light it as you pray with us.
