This letter was sent home with the boys who participated in the July baseball clinic sessions.

To the players and families of our athletes. Thank you for participating in our summer baseball training. You all showed significant improvement in your baseball skills and mechanics. Keep up with your exercise and mechanical workouts. Remember have a catch as often as possible and go through your throwing mechanics. Work on your swing with a partner or work in front of a mirror. Whatever you do don’t stop and forget what you have learned. Just a few minutes a week will help you maintain what you have learned.

North Plainfield Youth Sports Association is a group founded many years ago to offer talented and motivated athletes a chance to play against other competitive teams. Players have opportunities to improve their individual skills and learn team strategy with an emphasis on the dedication and perseverance needed to play competitive sports.
In the last few years the pool of players, available in town, needed to field these teams has dwindled. As a result the NPYSA’s emphasis has shifted too recruiting and training in the hopes of rebuilding a group able to compete in travel sports again. You are part of this beginning and we hope that you and your families will encourage your families, friends and neighbors to join with us to accomplish our goal of raising the level of play for all North Plainfield youth.

We are in the process of planning some fall workouts with the goal for the not too distant future of playing in a tournament or league.
Our organization welcomes any help you can provide in our efforts to recruit more players. Please call me (Van Dickerson) at 908-295-4354 with any questions or leads you may have and we will gladly follow up.

Sincerely yours,
Coach Van & Coach Evan

On July 26th and 27th, NPYSA held softball clinics for the girls of North Plainfield, grades 3 through 12th. The clinics were led by North Plainfield High School Varsity Coach Alex Hill, Assistant Varsity Coaches Katie Muglia, Victoria Kisling and Coach Heather Bergman of Seton Hall University.

The first day started with a pitching clinic, followed by instruction on fielding and throwing mechanics.

The second day, the clinic started with a pitchers and catchers clinic, followed by instruction on hitting skills and techniques.

We want to thank all the coaches for their giving their valuable time and assist us in improving our programs.

We feel the girls got a lot from these clinics and it will certainly help them in the future. We plan on continuing these clinics through the fall and winter either outdoors or indoors as weather permits. This will certainly add to the development for the upcoming Recreation, Middle and High School seasons.

NPYSA is planning to join a girls Fall Softball League and several tournaments. We don’t know the costs right now but will share that information as soon as it’s received.

All girls interested in taking part, should contact me, Coach Nick Kisling at 732-742-5705 with any questions.

Be on the look out for posts on the following:
1) Strength and Conditioning Clinics (will be open to all NP boys and girls)
2) Boys Baseball addition instructional clinics
3) Boys and Girls Travel Basketball (if participation warrants)

Thank you!
