Shining Light, Bringing Hope to Trafficking Survivors
LightHousePBC.org We offer a CEU course for identifying trafficking victims in the medical setting.

LightHousePBC provides mental health counseling and trauma therapy to survivors at low or no charge. We currently run the John School program for Palm Beach County (JohnSchoolPBC.org). (A john school is a deferment or sentencing option for individuals arrested for prostitution/solicitation.) Separate courses are offered for buyers (TRAPS) ; and victims (ReSPECT). We are also putting the details to

gether to run mentoring programs at local laundromats for women in the commercial s*x industry. We will cover costs for women to do their laundry while they participate in the class. This is an effort to build relationships - and in doing so create the momentum for "the next step" in the lives of the individuals we serve.

Sally’s Journey — Week 12

After a long legal process, the charges tied to Sally’s exploitation are finally cleared. With her record restored, she can pursue legitimate work opportunities and move toward greater independence.

Moments like this can change the trajectory of a survivor’s life.

One of the biggest misconceptions about human trafficking and exploitation is that it always involves kidnapping or chains.

The reality is often far more complicated.

Many survivors are controlled through fear, emotional abuse, financial dependence, addiction, threats, or trauma bonding.

That’s why compassion and understanding matter so much.

Awareness helps people recognize exploitation for what it truly is — and helps survivors feel seen instead of judged.

Sally’s Journey — Week 11

Old out-of-state violations eventually cause Sally to lose her driver’s license. Without it, she must rely on public transportation again — which increases her risk of encountering her trafficker.

Even small barriers can have serious consequences during recovery.
