Mr. Jojo's Rescue

Mr. Jojo's Rescue We provide love and quality care for homeless senior dogs in a home environment. Our seniors have lost their families and have little chance of being adopted.

Mr. Jojo's is their forever home until they cross over the rainbow bridge. We are a small non-profit that rescues seniors from shelters who have little to no chance of being adopted due to their age and medical issues. Once a resident with us our seniors receive top notch medical and nutritional care, daily exercise, and of course lots of fun, love, and belly rubs. Our seniors live out the remainder of their lives with us until it is time to cross over the rainbow bridge.

Senior shenanigans!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated, shared, supported, and followed our journey with these special senior dogs. We appreciate every single one of you more than you know.

We wanted to give everyone a quick update on Layla and Pippin. Unfortunately, both of these sweet little seniors have severely compromised tracheas, which makes anesthesia much riskier than we had hoped. That means our dreams of fixing their rotten teeth, removing mammary tumors, and taking care of some other issues may not be possible. Their bloodwork also came back a little funky, so we’re doing additional testing to get a better picture of where they are medically.

Despite all of that, they are absolute troopers and the sweetest little souls. Well… sweet with a side of sass, especially when food is involved! I keep reminding them that they never have to worry about their next meal again. They will have breakfast and dinner every day, without fail, plus a few treats thrown in for good measure.

The rest of the gang is keeping us busy, too. Pug had an eye recheck, and her ulcer is looking much better. One more week of medication should have her healed up nicely. The real challenge is convincing her that eye drops are actually a good thing. I told her she needs to keep her one eye healthy!

Mosquito’s eye is also doing better and will be heading in soon for a blood pressure check, while Pootie and Lilly Bear are due for their allergy injections. These seniors are definitely keeping Mommy on her toes!

Everyone is doing well, settling in, eating, napping, and enjoying being loved. They are such a wonderful little group.

Thank you again to everyone who donates, supports, shares our posts, and follows our page. None of this would be possible without you. ❤️

Welcome home sweet seniors Layla and Pippin 💕🐾

When Animal Care & Control calls us about senior dogs, sometimes we simply cannot say yes… but how could we say no to these two?

These poor 15 year old babies arrived to ACC in heartbreaking condition. The matting was so severe they could barely function. Little Layla couldn’t even put her back leg down because the mats were holding it up, and both dogs’ nails had grown over an inch long into the pads of their feet. They had clearly gone far too long without medical care, grooming, or comfort.

Layla and Pippin were so scared when they first arrived. Now they are just one of the gang, fitting in like they have been here for a long time. It’s so wonderful to see them relax and feel safe, knowing this is their new forever home.

Layla has a mammary tumor, no teeth, a disintegrated lower jaw, and some concerning lung and trachea issues. She hops around like a tiny bunny because she won’t (or can’t) use her back leg yet… honestly, it’s ridiculously cute and we’re hopeful someday she’ll be able to use it again.

Pippin also has significant medical issues including a severe collapsed trachea, blindness, one very dramatic oversized testicle, and exactly one tooth left… which according to both the groomer and vet staff, he is absolutely willing to use 😂

Both are currently on antibiotics, and Pippin is on cough medication while we wait for additional test and x-ray results.

And because the universe likes keeping us humble, a week before we picked them up Mosquito developed a corneal ulcer… and a day after we got home, Pug-not to be outdone- decided she needed to also develop a corneal ulcer in the one eye she has left! 👀

The bills are piling up faster than we can keep up right now, but THIS is why we do what we do. Senior neglected dogs deserve softness, comfort, safety, and love for whatever time they have left.

If you’d like to help Layla, Pippin, Mosquito, Pug, and all the sweet old souls who find their way here, donations truly make all the difference. Every dollar helps us say “yes” when these forgotten seniors need us most.

And trust us… these two are already proving they’re worth every penny. 💜🐶🦴💜

Today we said goodbye to sweet Pretzel Jack. After taking him to the vet, it was clear that it was his time, and as heartbreaking as it is, it was the absolute right thing to do for him. Pretzel was 16. 💜

This was a boy who used to prance proudly down the street on our walks, run when he could, leap onto the sofa, and move through life with such joy and athleticism. Watching him slowly become lost in the house, unable to walk well, jump, or even enjoy eating the way he wanted… that was no life for our Pretzel Jack. His body and mind had rapidly deteriorated.

It is so incredibly hard to let go of these special souls, but we do it for them. We do it so dogs like Pretzel Jack can once again run free, jump, play with toys, and feel young and whole again.

We will miss you forever, Pretzel Jack. Your last three years with us were truly amazing, and we are so grateful for every single day.

Say hello to all your brothers and sisters for us. Let them know we love them always. ❤️

Senior shenanigans!

Lilly Bear is officially settling into life at Mr. JoJo’s Rescue, and we’re pretty sure she’s claimed her new best friend… a stuffed Highland cow 🐮💕

Meanwhile, Corn Nut continues his self-appointed role as the after-dinner cleanup crew. No crumb left behind… much to the dismay of his brothers and sisters who are usually still eating. 🙄😂

The house has been full of all the best things lately—little snores during nap time, happy bellies after meals, and the sweetest line of pups patiently waiting their turn for belly rubs.

Pretzel Jack has an important vet appointment tomorrow. Send him some good vibes and prayers. His neurological issues are getting worse. He’s having a hard time walking, getting lost in the house, roaming all night, sometimes forgetting how to eat. He still as sweet as can be but definitely different.

It’s not fancy over here, but it’s full of love, full of personality, and full of moments that make you stop and smile 💜

It’s so hard to pick the cutest pictures or not add 100 pictures for each post! Enjoy 🦴🐶💜

RIP Sweet King… a.k.a. King Corn Nut, a.k.a. Kingalingadingdong 💛

He found his way to us a couple years ago and quickly settled into his perfect routine—eat, nap, repeat. His bark was the official dinner bell, and he never let the gang miss a meal.

King came to us with failing kidneys, but with the right diet, meds, and a whole lot of love, we were gifted extra time—time we will always be grateful for. His final chapter was filled with comfort, a full belly, and so much love. 💜🐶🦴

And now… please welcome Lilly Bear🐻
She came to animal care and control when her humans asked for euthanasia, but thankfully someone saw what we see—a little life (and a lot of love) still left. At 18 years old (allegedly… the seniors are already questioning her paperwork 😏), she’s fitting right in. She loves to eat, soak up the sunshine, and after her much-needed lion cut, she’s out there prancing around like she owns the backyard.

We were so privileged to give King a beautiful ending. Now it’s our turn to give this little lion the same. 💛

I always take a little time before posting when I lose one of the seniors. It’s just how I process it all — I grieve, I clean their spaces, I spend extra time loving on the ones who feel the loss too. If I try to write too soon, the words don’t come… I usually just end up crying.

This time… it was more than one.

Princess — our OG, the very first official JoJo’s senior. The matriarch. The one who started it all. That loss hit deep in a way I can’t quite put into words.

Before I could even gather myself to post, Gingerbread Latte — sweet, quiet, steady Gingerbread — decided it was time to go be with her sister after five beautiful months with us.

And then Magic Mike… our almost 20-year-old little legend… let us know he was tired. He passed peacefully in his sleep, right beside his mommy, in the bed he’d shared for the last five years. Exactly where he belonged.

It’s been a heavy, heartbreaking month in this house. You can feel it — in the quiet moments, in the way the other dogs look for them, in the spaces they’ve left behind.

But here’s what I hold onto…

Every single dog that walks through these doors — whether for years or just a short time — is deeply loved. They are seen. They are cherished. And they are given everything I have so that the last chapter of their lives is filled with comfort, dignity, and so much love.

Princess stayed punk rock to the very end. Gingerbread was exactly who she always was — gentle, steady, and sweet. And Magic Mike… he did things his way, right to the very last breath.

I hope I did right by them. I hope they felt how much they were loved — not just by me, but by all of you who followed their journeys and cheered them on.

Thank you for loving them with me. And I’m sorry it took me a little while to find the words… these ones were just harder to write.

Every senior deserves to be loved, held close, and treasured beyond measure… all the way to the end. 💜🐾🦴🌈

I know I don’t post as often as I probably should for a senior dog rescue… and I promise it’s not because I’m slacking.

It’s because I’m busy cleaning senior eyeballs and booties.
And going to the vet.
And picking up p**p.
And cleaning more p**p.
And doing laundry (so. much. laundry.).
Somewhere in there I try to squeeze in a run every day, and—just checking—did I mention I clean?
But every single day, every senior dog also gets lots of love. And that takes time. Whether it’s belly rubs, sitting quietly with them, taking them for a walk, or picking them up and dancing with them around the house.
Life with senior dogs isn’t always glamorous, but it’s full of love, patience, routine… and a whole lot of disinfectant. Thanks for sticking with us, even when we’re quieter than usual. 💙🐾

Today’s update comes with both loss and love. ❤️

Goodbye, sweet Herbie the Love Bug.
A quiet girl who was happiest wandering between the bedroom and my bathroom, coming out for food, sunshine, and belly rubs. She loved feeling the sun on her face and having a full belly—and she was perfectly content with a cozy bed and a safe place to call her own.
Thank you for trusting me with the last chapter of your life. Run free with your brothers and sisters over the Rainbow Bridge, sweet girl. I’ll see you again. 🌈🐾

Welcome Candy… now known as Butters. When Animal Care and Control called about this 13 yaer old, there was no way we could say no to this girl.

Butters fits in perfectly with the seniors at Mr. JoJo’s. She can’t see well, can’t hear well, loves to eat and nap—basically my spirit animal.
She’s sweet, quiet, funny, and happiest just hanging out with everyone.
I truly believe that a dog leaves us knowing another senior is in need, and I think that’s the beautiful gift Herbie gave. Welcome home, sweet Butters.

It’s GivingTuesday!

Mr. JoJo’s Rescue has 64 reasons to give — the 64 incredible dogs who came through our doors and later crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Sixty-four lives, each one different, each one loved. Some only stayed for three days, some for three years, but every single one got to live the end of their story wrapped in comfort, happiness and joy. Your donations make that possible. 💜

This year, I’m dedicating Giving Tuesday to Buster — Bus Bus the Wonder Dog.

Before he came to Mr. JoJo’s, Buster had every reason not to be joyful. His previous life was spent outside in the sweltering Florida heat, without love, without kindness, without the care every dog deserves. But Buster persevered.

The cancer finally won, but not without one hell of a fight. Buster walked into the vet’s office with his tail still wagging. And true to form, he celebrated with so many Hershey’s Kisses I thought he might actually burst.

Buster was a force — a big, joyful presence who spent nearly three years at Mr. JoJo’s being everyone’s welcome committee. He greeted every new dog with kindness, patience, and a giant happy heart and that wagging tail of his.

Rest in peace, Buster. We love you so much.
Thank you for everything you gave us.

If you’re able, please donate to Mr. JoJo’s Rescue for Giving Tuesday. Your generosity gives dogs like Buster the chance to live their final chapter surrounded by love. And truly — that changes everything. 💜🐾

🎃Thank You from Mr. JoJo’s Rescue! 🎃

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated to help our senior pups! Because of you, their bellies are full and their naps are long. You’ve helped cover vet visits, meds, and all the little things that keep these golden oldies happy and comfortable. They are living their best life❤️

We tried to take Halloween pictures — but after 45 minutes, one dog in a taco costume, and zero cooperation, we admitted defeat. So… no cute photos, just chaos and laughter. 👻

Your support truly keeps this rescue running and these sweet seniors thriving. You mean the world to these little old souls. ❤️

P.S. — If anyone knows how to actually find the list of donors on Facebook, PLEASE message me. I’ve clicked every button, checked the app, the desktop, even yelled at the screen — and I still can’t find it. Apparently, I’ve officially reached the “technology is hard” stage of life. 🙃
