What a great ham and bean dinner!! Major issues that were talked about were property taxes and elevating the state’s roll in funding public schools and special ed. This would then reduce the need for cities to foot as much as the bill as they do. This would elevate public schools.
Supporting public schools is paramount to giving every kid access to a fair education. Vouchers remove dollars from schools that are already hurting.
Another issue was supporting medicaid expansion which would open hospital doors to patients, and aid in funding hospitals so more don’t close. When hospitals are funded, and more patients are seen, hospitals have more breathing room for patients.
Tonight’s speaker was KC Ohaebosim, the running mate of Cindy Holscher for Kansas. She is running against Masterson who is very close to the billionaire class over real Kansans, having being paid endlessly by the Koch’s for a job he didn’t show up for at WSU.
Matt Smith for 72 spoke as well about local politics and what it takes to overcome attack ads that are unethical and cherry pick with no real value. When you have to win like that, perhaps Anderson has already lost. Smith earlier had morally gotten angry with a public figure who disparages minorities, and uses the Bible as a weapon. Many people noticing such angry and divisive figures usually look the other way and lean towards kindness and morals and not choosing to follow those who cast judgement on so many Kansans and so many Americans. Smith wants to not play into those games and get us all back to solving real problems like expanding Medicaid.
Anderson said he wanted to do this so many years ago while trying to get his first round of votes. Smith wants to win to help uplift and not tear down people in our area. If you want high tariffs, higher costs, and support corruption, vote for Anderson. If you want someone better who has a real plan in place for us all. Vote for Matt Smith.
Ediger for Everyone also spoke about the many issues that were affecting Kansas. When she spoke of the many issues deer to her heart she unraveled a list that fell from her hands all the way down to her feet. This got a ton of reactions and round of applause. She believes in public education and not denigrating people for who they are. She says Republicans are largely focusing on smear campaigns for marginalized people over solving problems that would ever help anyone in Kansas. Protecting a woman’s right to privacy with her doctor, was paramount saying that a politician should never decide anything with private family matters. She got another round of applause here. This amendment had been voted on by Kansans and won in the women’s favor.
If the other guys wins private family matters would likely be made public so politicians could access that info at anytime. A new chapter in American politics is needed.
Michele supports funding public schools, keeping hospitals open with Medicaid, and people in the room are saying that a lot of republicans are mad about how their party has hurt our community.
