Head Butt Hotel

Head Butt Hotel The "Head Butt Hotel" in NMB, SC, where every furry friend is treated as if they were our only pet. Christine Zois

In 2014, after many years of an extended residency in Spain, I moved back to NJ and onto North Myrtle Beach after my Mom's passing, with the intention setting up a wellness center to help people thru nutrition, laser therapy, yoga, and personal training counseling, Of course, our three precious NJ rescued felines Simby, P***y, and Smokey moved as well. During my first 2 years here, I became consum

ed and driven to help and contribute my small part to the animal welfare cause, learning through the experience as a board member for another local rescue. As a result of our extreme differences in standards, the Feline Canine Fellowship Coalition was established in November 2014. When our life long family member and now resident Chief Cat Man Larry Fischer joined us in 2015, our home base we fondly refer to as the Head Butt Hotel, morphed into a full service safe haven, where we are able to attend to the needs of a limited number of special cats, who join us by referral only. We only know of one way to attend to the felines in our care, as if they were our only one. We may be criticized at times for our stringent adoption requirements. But our lifestyle philosophy and mantras drive us, quality vs quantity of life, no suffering, and money being well spent. We are driven to restore, ensure, and promote optimal health, and to help others do so as well, furry and non furry friends alike, thru nutrition, integrated and complementary health / vet care. We are very very proud of what we have created here, and welcome everyone to visit us and continue to help us help people and animals alike. With much appreciation and a heart-full of thanks, every life matters and everyone's support and contribution helps make a difference.

UPDATE: We have a wonderful medical foster for Simba, so we'll be working on rehabilitation plans for him! πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

URGENT MEDICAL FOSTER NEEDED TOMORROW, Friday.
Simba is the fiv+ cat we've been assisting with at the Hickory, NC Catawaba Valley Animal Hospital who was hit by a car and seriously injured. His dislocated hip and tail will require surgeries BUT the immediate issue is that he requires a MEDICAL FOSTER starting tomorrow, Friday afternoon. We need someone experienced to express his bladder every 4-6 hrs as he remains unable to urinate on his own after removing the catheter. He was also started on Lactulose today to hopefully help him p**p on his own.
The veterinary hospital currently taking such great care of him, is not open weekends and
I cannot take him here. I already have 5 medical cases, and no space to put him, if I had experience with this, which I do not.
Please urgently share and help connect the dots to someone who could possibly help longer-term to get this guy back on his feet with the chance for everything to start "working" properly. The Head Butt Hotel will cover ALL expenses and food, we just need an extra set of qualified hands to help give this gyy the chance he deserves.
We do NOT have $2000 for an er hospital for the weekend.

Sable, the manx senior from Taylorsville who arrived here last month, also has her share of medical challenges. Her eyes were the least of her problems, as she too is stricken with Calici, not to mention serious gastrointestinal issues that likely have gone unattended to for quite some time, years perhaps a decade. She's taking up residency in my bathroom, and started her Molnupiravir this week, in addition to ongoing Doxycycline.
The ongoing suffering and Iack of proper care of animals, is overwhelmingly heart wrenching.
So many in need and so few people to help.

We have so many medical challenges here I'm not sure where to begin. Arlo and Colonel had their badly needed dental care last week and we've been anxiety ridden with concern over the degree of inflammation, they have in their mouths and throats. Thankfully, the the biopsies are clear for oral cancer, but none the less, are faced with the lesser of evils. In spite of having received a minimum of 5 fvrcp vaccines each, they're suffering extreme cases of Calici. The good news is, our vet is quickly becoming our area's expert on the Molnupravir treatment now available to reverse the previous incurable conditions stomatitis, gingivitis, and calici. Yes, it's expensive and I'll be starting both on the Molnupiravir paste this week, it's shipping out tomorrow with 2 day delivery. So for anyone who may have expressed an interest in adopting this bonded pair, fair warning, their adoption fee will unfortunately be extremely high, their ongoing veterinary expenses. With all the extreme unexpected veterinary cases we've stepped up for recently, I humbly don't even know who to plea for help with donations as the priority.

Starting the day welcoming my friend Joy's two beloved cats here, Chungus and Katniss, due to health issues with her youngest baby boy.
They're out and about, navigating, and will likely make friends in no time at all. πŸ™

Just a quick update on Luna who came here in November 2024, as the last resort to being euthanized by Crystal Perez' vet Palmetto Animal Clinic in Spartanburg.

What I originally thought would be a case of simply inappropriate nutrition, Iams, was a far more complicated toxic contamination, $2000 and 18 months later.

So for all the well intentioned candidates interested in adopting our cats, please be sure what you have to offer, is in fact comparable, if not an upgrade to the life they realize here. And that does NOT mean UTD rabies vaccines, and Puktrina cat food. Our residents do not arrive from bougy privileged situations, on the contrary. And as much as we need to be in a position to intake and help rehab so many more, we're not about to move cats to incomparable homes, at the expense of their health, and well being, with a self proclaimed #10 most experienced pet owner who couldn't be further from a natural rearer.

Luna will be turning 7 yrs old in November and is spayed, combo tested, and vaccinated. She would be best suited in a single cat home with her own person, as she's not comfortable around the other cats here. She's a princess when it comes to her litter pan, and meticulously and flawlessly uses p*e p*e pads vs litter, quite a luxury, from a maintenance aspect.
She doesn't like having her nails trimmed, so that's probably an easier task to have done with her friend Tam Tam at Angel Pets on a monthly basis.
She does not eat any dry food, some Stella and Chewy Raw Dinner morsels and quality HUMAN grade wet food twice daily.

Anyone interested in having this beautiful gal as a sleeping partner, please don't hesitate to reach out. Her adoption fee is $350, a smidgen of the financial investment made in her recovery. She was well worth every penny and time spent, to give her the best life ever, that she deserved from the very beginning.

Look at White Boy, our fiv, calici. stomatitis guy, now 10 weeks on the Molnupiravir our vet prescribed thru Wedgewood Pharmacies. He's well on his way to a complete recovery; the treatment plan is for 16 weeks.
Within the first week he was feeling the benefits, not fighting to let me syringe him the meds. His owner, a vet tech who sent him here, whose vet completely MISDIAGNOSED not only the calici, but a mycoplasma suggested I euthanize him.

Meet sweet declawed Jax who just arrived here from the Davidson Animal Shelter in Lexington NC; another one of the luckiest unlucky cats. He'll be heading to our vet in the morning so we can come up with a treatment plan for what appears to be some kind of scalding or acid burn.
Donations and pledges can be honored via PayPal to [email protected] with much appreciation.

I couldn't turn away from helping this guy, who was surrendered to the Davidson County Animal Shelter in Lexington NC as a stray, so he cannot be released until Monday. One of our dear friends will be transporting him here on Memorial Day and first thing Tuesday morning he'll be at our vet so we can come up with a treatment plan.

Prayers, donations, and suggestions for this guy's new name to start his new life are greatly appreciated.
