We had a successful day serving the community yesterday in partnership with Aetna, the City of North Miami, Global Advocates and Allies Inc., NAMI and other organization to create the North Miami Health Council. Together we provided health education workshops focused on nutrition, healthy eating, and diabetes prevention. Since April is STD Awareness Month, we also presented on HIV and STD basics and prevention.

We had a great community turnout, and participants gained practical knowledge to support healthier lifestyles. The event included a live food demonstration of a nutritious meal, and each attendee received a bag of ingredients to recreate it at home.

Overall, it was a very impactfup day of education and engagement.

On behalf of the Community Health and Empowerment Network, Inc.., we extend our sincerest condolences and prayers to the Matayer family, close friends, colleagues, and constituents as they lay to rest their beloved daughter, Nancy Metayer, a devoted public servant of Coral Springs, Florida, who tragically lost her life in a brutal act of domestic violence by her husband, who now faces charges for her premeditated murder. May she rest in peace.

The graduation ceremony for the Real Magnolias Cohort 1 of 2026 was a great success. Our psycho social therapy sessions enabled the ladies to bond and grow. The atmosphere was filled with happiness and a hint of tears as each woman received her certificate and recognition. We offer our heartfelt congratulations to these ladies and take pride in them completing the course. Community Health and Empowerment Network, Inc.

Always choose healthier options. Sometimes you may feel like you cannot eat anything. However, when in doubt, choose baked and grilled over fried. Opt for unbreaded over breaded. Consider skipping dessert and cheesy breads, and instead choose water over sugary drinks and sodas.
