Global Innovative Foundation, Inc. Hosts 7th Annual Power & Influence Luncheon, Awarding Over $75,000 in Scholarships to Survivors
Coral Gables – March 27, 2026 – Global Innovative Foundation, Inc. proudly hosted its 7th Annual Power & Influence Luncheon at the historic Biltmore Hotel, convening hundreds of elected officials, community leaders, advocates, and stakeholders committed to advancing public service and uplifting vulnerable populations across Miami-Dade County.
This signature event celebrated leadership, resilience, and community impact while advancing the Foundation’s mission to empower survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and gun violence. The 2026 honorees were recognized with a County Congratulations Certificate presented on behalf of Daniella Levine Cava.
A central highlight of this year’s luncheon was the awarding of more than $75,000 in scholarships to survivors, supporting their educational and career advancement. In addition, two new scholarships were officially approved by the Board of Directors: The Marina Pavlov Scholarship and the Dr. Francesco Duberli Scholarship Fund.
Scholarship Awards Included:
• $48,000 – Miami Regional University (1 survivor pursuing a nursing degree)
• $20,000 – Survivors’ Pathway (2 students attending FIU and Broward College)
• $4,000 – Jackson Health System (gun violence survivor)
• $3,000 – City of North Miami, Mayor Dr. Alix Desulme
• $1,000 – United Faculty of Miami Dade College (Youth Ambassador of the Year)
“This gathering reflects the strength of leadership across all levels of government and community,” said Dr. Marie O. Etienne, Founder, President, and CEO of Global Innovative Foundation, Inc. “We are honored by the continued support of leaders such as Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor Dr. Alix Desulme, and State Representative Marie P. Woodson, as well as our Featured Keynote Speaker, Katherine Fernandez Rundle. Their longstanding commitment strengthens our mission to build safer communities while investing in survivors through education and opportunity.”
The program was elegantly led by Emcee Dr. Sandra Justice, alongside Co-Emcee Dr. Rachel Tourgeman, whose inspiring invocation set a powerful tone for the event. The audience was further moved by a series of outstanding performances, including the National Anthem by Edward Mena, and musical selections by acclaimed pianist Tony Peres, composer Mario Martinelli, vocalist Supin Chen, and Ketler, creating a memorable and uplifting experience.

• Outstanding Leadership Award – Ramona Edwards, Miami Dade College, Medical Campus
• Institutional Excellence in Justice & Public Safety Award – Miami-Dade County Corrections Department (Sherea Green, MSCJ, CJM)
• Champion Advocating for Vulnerable Populations Award – Miami-Dade County Human Trafficking Coalition (MDCHTC), including Ivon Mesa, Dr. (h.c.), and Victor Williams
• Human Trafficking Advocacy Award – Marya Meyer, CEO - The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade
• Civic Relations Award – Dr. Rose Martin, Director of Miami-Dade County Commission for Women and the Social and Evonomic Development Council

The luncheon welcomed a distinguished audience of public officials, nonprofit leaders, business professionals, and community stakeholders—reinforcing the importance of collaboration between government and the communities it serves.
Under the leadership of Dr. Marie O. Etienne, the Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to serving those most in need with dignity, intention, and purpose.

A deeply moving highlight of the program was the voices of survivors, who courageously shared their personal stories and poetry—reminding all in attendance of the profound impact of this work.
