Global Innovative Foundation, Inc. Proudly Supports Sexual Assault Awareness Month Symposium at Miami Dade College West Campus

In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month this April, Global Innovative Foundation, Inc. (GIF) is honored to serve as a proud sponsor of the Sexual Assault Awareness Month Symposium, hosted by the Roxcy Bolton R**e Treatment Center, part of Jackson Health System.

The symposium took place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Miami Dade College – West Campus, bringing together healthcare professionals, community leaders, advocates, students, and survivors in a unified call to action.

This year’s theme, “Rooted in Advocacy. Rising in Strength. Moving Forward Together,” reflected a powerful commitment to education, empowerment, and community collaboration while celebrating more than five decades of service and impact by the Roxcy Bolton R**e Treatment Center.

A distinguished highlight of the symposium was the “Honoring Champions of Change” Awards Ceremony, recognizing individuals and organizations whose leadership and service have significantly advanced advocacy, survivor support, and community impact.

Among the honorees, Carlos A. Migoya received the Safe Haven Leadership Award for his transformative contributions to healthcare access and equity. In a special moment, Honorable Daniela Jean, Commissioner of the City of North Miami Beach, presented an official proclamation recognizing his legacy and proclaiming “Migoya Day” in the City of North Miami Beach, honoring his enduring commitment to underserved communities.

Additional awards celebrated excellence in philanthropy, collaboration, service, advocacy, and healthcare leadership, including recognition of community partners such as Miami Dade College – West Campus, Kristi House, and frontline advocates and healthcare professionals dedicated to supporting survivors.

Global Innovative Foundation, Inc. Hosts 7th Annual Power & Influence Luncheon, Awarding Over $75,000 in Scholarships to Survivors

Coral Gables – March 27, 2026 – Global Innovative Foundation, Inc. proudly hosted its 7th Annual Power & Influence Luncheon at the historic Biltmore Hotel, convening hundreds of elected officials, community leaders, advocates, and stakeholders committed to advancing public service and uplifting vulnerable populations across Miami-Dade County.

This signature event celebrated leadership, resilience, and community impact while advancing the Foundation’s mission to empower survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and gun violence. The 2026 honorees were recognized with a County Congratulations Certificate presented on behalf of Daniella Levine Cava.

A central highlight of this year’s luncheon was the awarding of more than $75,000 in scholarships to survivors, supporting their educational and career advancement. In addition, two new scholarships were officially approved by the Board of Directors: The Marina Pavlov Scholarship and the Dr. Francesco Duberli Scholarship Fund.

Scholarship Awards Included:

• $48,000 – Miami Regional University (1 survivor pursuing a nursing degree)

• $20,000 – Survivors’ Pathway (2 students attending FIU and Broward College)

• $4,000 – Jackson Health System (gun violence survivor)

• $3,000 – City of North Miami, Mayor Dr. Alix Desulme

• $1,000 – United Faculty of Miami Dade College (Youth Ambassador of the Year)

“This gathering reflects the strength of leadership across all levels of government and community,” said Dr. Marie O. The program was elegantly led by Emcee Dr. Sandra Justice, alongside Co-Emcee Dr. Rachel Tourgeman, whose inspiring invocation set a powerful tone for the event. The audience was further moved by a series of outstanding performances, including the National Anthem by Edward Mena, and musical selections by acclaimed pianist Tony Peres, composer Mario Martinelli, vocalist Supin Chen, and Ketler, creating a memorable and uplifting experience.

The tragic death of Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen is a devastating reminder of why this work is not optional - it is essential.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, colleagues, and the entire Coral Springs community during this time of profound loss.

Vice Mayor Metayer Bowen was a trailblazer and dedicated public servant. As the first Black and Haitian-American woman elected to the Coral Springs City Commission, she represented progress, resilience, and a deep commitment to her community. Her leadership and service leave a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.

This tragedy underscores a painful reality: domestic violence continues to affect individuals and families across South Florida and beyond, often in silence and with devastating consequences. It does not discriminate—it touches every community.

Restoring Strengths and Hope for Survivors and Victims’ Advocates

Miami, FL — Global Innovative Foundation, Inc. (GIF) will host its 2nd Annual Day of Renewal & Healing: Restoring Strengths & Hope for Survivors and Victims’ Advocates on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Father Gerard Jean-Juste Community Center, located at 690 NE 159 Street, Miami, Florida 33162.

This special educational and wellness-focused program is designed to support survivors, advocates, and community members seeking restoration, reflection, and healing. The event will feature a keynote address by Katina Hernandez, Speaker, Adjunct Professor, Consultant, Expert Witness, and Retired Federal Agent, who will share insights on resilience, advocacy, and recovery.

The program is open to conquerors, survivors, and individuals grieving the loss of a loved one, providing a safe and supportive space for collective healing.

Attendees will participate in therapeutic and wellness-centered activities, including:

✔Yoga and mindfulness sessions

✔Healing through painting and creative expression

✔Guided journaling

✔Massage and relaxation activities

Global Innovative Foundation Hosts 7th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention Summit During National Awareness Month

Miami, FL – January 26, 2026 — Global Innovative Foundation, Inc. (GIF), in collaboration with the Human Trafficking Taskforce of Miami Dade College Medical Campus, Public Safety, and Alpha Beta Epsilon at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, successfully hosted the 7th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention Summit on Monday, January 26, 2026. The hybrid summit was held on the Miami Dade College Medical Campus and via Zoom in observance of National

Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
Human trafficking is one of the fastest-growing criminal enterprises in the world, generating an estimated $234 billion annually, making it a highly profitable form of organized crime. Florida consistently ranks third in the nation for reported human trafficking cases, with Miami-Dade County ranking #1 and Broward County ranking #2 statewide. These alarming statistics underscore the urgent need for education, early identification, and coordinated prevention efforts across South Florida and beyond.

The summit drew more than 150 in-person attendees and 19 virtual participants, including healthcare professionals, students, educators, law enforcement, and community advocates committed to advancing prevention, education, and survivor-centered responses to human trafficking.

The event began with a powerful invocation/reflection by Pastor Dr. Rachel Tourgeman and featured a powerful and informative keynote address by Commander Daniel Mosquera, Commander of the Human Trafficking Task Force at the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office. Commander Mosquera delivered an outstanding presentation highlighting current trafficking trends, investigative strategies, and the critical role of interagency collaboration in protecting victims and prosecuting traffickers. His remarks emphasized the importance of community awareness and multidisciplinary partnerships in disrupting trafficking networks.

An expert panel further enriched the summit with diverse perspectives across healthcare, corrections, advocacy, and survivor services. Panelists included:

Valdes, Dr. NP, MSN-HCS, PGC-Ned., ANCC MEDSURG-BC, Director of the South Region for the Florida Nurses Association and Deputy Director of Communications and Public Relations for Global Innovative Foundation, the discussion fostered meaningful dialogue on prevention strategies, early identification, and systems of care.
