The North Massapequa Fire Department Board of Fire Commissioners recently recognized Ex-Chief Vincent Kehoe for more than 50 years of service to the Department and the Districts’ residents. Soon after joining the Fire Department as a member of Friendship Engine Company 3, Vincent quickly earned the respect of his fellow first responders through his tireless work ethic and exceptional leadership ability. He served his company as Lieutenant and Captain before his election to the Chief’s office. After serving as an Assistant Chief, Vincent was elected as the Chief of the Department and served in that capacity from 1986 through 1988. In addition to his service as a volunteer, Vincent worked for Nassau County Fire Communications, where his vast knowledge of the Fire service made him an integral part of its day-to-day operations.
The Board of Fire Commissioners stated they were honored to recognize his long-distinguished career. “Ex-Chief Kehoe has had an outstanding career and this recognition is our way of honoring his 5 decades of service,” said Chairman of the Board, James M. Maroldo (2nd from left).

Members of the North Massapequa Fire Department’s Training Committee recently conducted a drill for its probationary members (aka ‘Probies’) to learn about the classifications and chemistry of fire. They also had an opportunity to learn about the various types of extinguishers and their applications with live fire. “Training is an ongoing process in the Fire service,” explained Chief of Department Joseph G. Ferrante. “We are fortunate to have many experienced senior members who share their extensive knowledge through their efforts with our Training Committee.”
