The Voice Of Reason...

John Jacobs is a man who can articulate himself and what he wants to say extremely well.

A man who has experience enough to have boycotted and had "sit ins".

He stood up and used his voice to show and say what he believed to be right.

He also had a voice that was very distinctive and particular and carried weight in not only volume but in respect.

That voice was the voice of Jack Robey, PBHS and UAPB football games for years.

He announced so many events over the years with a voice that in these days would have done plenty of voiceover work and made millions, says Mr. Mac.

Mr. Jacobs was a principal that held the title without the title. When he made the decision it was final and followed by all. 40 years in education means he led many down the correct path.

He led and was an early example for so many great men who learned so much from him and how to lead with care and love.

Mr. Jacobs is basically your favorite leaders, favorite leader.

Mr. Jacob a Catholic who won the Daniel Rudd Award in 2018. No surprise his faith was driving force in all he did.

John Jacobs used his voice for good and is the reason for success for so many in the community.

Thank you and continue to enjoy your retirement Mr. Jacobs.

Running around like a chicken with your head cut off...

Strong saying that can show it's actually meaning and be literal if you don't have a strong administrative assistant or secretary at your school.

The list of things that come your way and the different roles of teachers and students and how to handle what is best for them both has to be just as difficult as it sounds.

Vickie Turchi has lived in that universe for decades.

She has worked with so many different faculty and staff and principals and still maintained the integrity of her role.

Vickie's smile and personality are a shining light and a safe spot for so many over the years.

The root of how things operate in front of and behind the scenes.

Keeping so many different tasks and responsibilities in order that without that order would cause the school to basically not function as smoothly as it does.

Mrs. Turchi we thank you for the order you have kept in and out of the school system over the years.

Mr. Mac in a Different Light...

If you look closely at this video there is one person enjoying the sounds and rocking back and forth. It's Mr. Mac years ago at the HBCU Battle Of Bands in Atlanta years ago.

Heaven might as well have been on that basketball floor that day. He loved it!

After their first baseball training session at Athlete Training House with Phillip Bryant these boys worked up an appetite.

Mr. Mac took them to Raising Cane's. Can't wait to watch them develop their skills at this great facility when they say "where training meet innovation" it's accurate.

Mr. Mac has big plans for his Mac Sox players after what he saw last night after this first of many training lessons.

Letter to a Young Street Brotha...

Everyone says "stay out of trouble", or "yes, of course he did this or that" afterwards.

Nobody is taking the time to truly find out and check on the man, or let him know "yo when someone test you, I know how hard it is for you to let it ride".

Everyone's upbringing and what they saw as a child isn't the same.

Some saw more violent approaches, more illegal activity, and broken rules to where it seems to be the norm.

You always have a choice though. You can make it past what you see in your face if your mind is willing to go a different place and stay there despite what you see or have seen in front of you.

Will it be easy- no chance. Will others close to you relate and understand how you can see past what seems to be your inevitable future? Probably not.

So you ride alone and know I'm stronger than the streets know. Don't try me cause I'm still ready to let it be known.

But from now on, I'm working on my path out of this to get to something bigger and be a positive influence for my family and children.

Mr. Mac rides with you as he came from The Southside of Chicago and still represents it proud as ever.

He does it and shows up for the streets in a positive way.

It can be done young brotha trust us. The Mac Center is proof.

Unforgettable determination...

This is the mentality the groups at Jack Robey either came in with or adopted when with Mr. Mac.

2nd place was frowned upon and they practiced for first in any Battle of The Bands and in life.

Boys Will Be Boys.

The Mac Center has firm beliefs in letting boys be boys.

It's normal for a young boy to have a hard time sitting still. We channel that energy when needed and also explain to them the time and place for it all.

We pride ourselves on having an environment where a young boy can thrive and develop as he should.

Be Strong.
Be Active.
Be Aggressive.
Stay Respectful.
Don't Change.
