Foresters for the Future Scholarship Application Period Open Through June 1

LITTLE ROCK, AR — The Arkansas Department of Agriculture, in partnership with the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM), is now accepting applications for the Foresters for the Future Scholarship.

The scholarship provides $4,000 per semester for four years to an incoming freshman pursuing a forestry degree at UAM’s College of Forestry, Agriculture, and Natural Resources. Recipients will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through paid internships with the Department’s Forestry Division. Applications are due June 1, and interested students can learn more and apply here: https://www.uamont.edu/academics/CFANR/forestersforthefuture.html

“We are proud to continue our partnership with UAM to invest in the future of Arkansas forestry,” said Arkansas State Forester Kyle Cunningham. “This scholarship not only opens doors for students, but it also strengthens the pipeline of skilled professionals who will steward one of our state’s most valuable natural resources for generations to come.”

"This scholarship is a tremendous opportunity for our students,” said Dr. Michael Blazier, Dean of the UAM College of Forestry, Agriculture, and Natural Resources and Director of the Arkansas Forest Resources Center. “Not only does it provide substantial financial aid to help them study for a career in forestry, but they also get a wide range of internship options for on-the-job learning with the Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Forestry Division."

Established by Act 399 of 2021, the Foresters for the Future Scholarship was created to encourage more students to pursue forestry as a career. Through this initiative, the Department and UAM aim to support and inspire the next generation of forestry professionals in Arkansas.
