⭐️ 1,090 pounds of food from ! ⭐️

At our food pantry, that means more than 800 more meals will go out to our families thanks to this successful food drive by the University of Iowa Panhellenic Council.

Food drives help us distribute fun and diverse items on our shelves, while helping us meet our top needs! 😊

Important SNAP update for neighbors:

As the federal government reopens, Iowa HHS will issue full SNAP benefits for the month of November.

Benefits are being loaded onto cards now and could be available later today. We anticipate that all SNAP benefits will be issued by Friday, Nov. 14, and recommend that SNAP recipients check their EBT card balances before making a purchase.

You can check your EBT balance by calling the number on the back of your card, 800-359-5802, logging into your ConnectEBT account online, or using the ConnectEBT Mobile app.

This community is a light in the darkness 🌤️

After 10,000 Johnson County residents lost their food benefits last Saturday, we served a record 160 households with 7,100 pounds of food in just one day — and because of this community, our shelves continue to be stocked with food.

This is just the beginning of our fight, and we couldn’t do it without you. While we still need your support to meet the rising need, we wanted to pause to share good news from this week.

An incredibly special thank you to the many local businesses, schools, and families for hosting drives and fundraisers keep us going. Tag us or send us a message to share what you’re doing to support your neighbors, we want to continue to celebrate your hard work!

Food is a human right. And yet this Saturday, 10,000 Johnson County residents — including 1 in 5 children — will lose access to SNAP, the federal program that families rely on to buy groceries.

Many families may not know where their next meal is coming from when their benefits disappear overnight. When SNAP is stripped away from families, food pantries become their only safety net. At NLCP, we are already serving a record 2,000 individuals with over 20,000 pounds of food each week.
