facial recognition technology is fundamentally unreliable

In September 2023, Jason Killinger was arrested at Peppermill Casino in Reno when casino security suddenly surrounded him, took him to the casino’s security office and detained him until a Reno police officer arrived. Mr. Killinger was arrested because the casino’s facial recognition security camera system alerted to Mr. Killinger being a possible match for another individual who had been banned from the premises.

LAS VEGAS — The Clark County School District Board of Trustees on Thursday night approved changes to the district’s policies for high school graduation ceremonies, ending a lengthy legal battle with the ACLU of Nevada about the rights of students to express their culture alongside their cap and gown.

The Clark County School District has officially changed its graduation regalia policy nearly a year after the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a lawsuit against the district, claiming schools were "enforcing unconstitutional restrictions on students’ decorating their caps and gowns."
