In an inspiring story of community impact and personal dedication, Shreveport native Lorenzo ‘Chuck’ Reed, with support from the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell, is making waves both in his hometown and beyond. Through his ‘Powering to Excel’ program, Reed focuses on rehabilitation and mentoring, especially targeting youth and adults with severe mental illnesses and diabetes. His initiative, ‘Rosie’s Wish,’ named in honor of his late mother who died from diabetes, is dedicated to supporting individuals with diabetes, fundraising for diabetic materials, and ensuring those in need receive proper care. Reed's commitment to his community and his mother's legacy is a powerful reminder of the difference one person can make, with the NFL's support highlighting the positive impact sports organizations can have off the field.
