We are currently looking for volunteers to help with Ticketing at the US Open!

All volunteers will receive free entry into the event. 4/22-4/26

Requirements:
- Must have a valid Athlete, Coach, or Event Volunteer badge

Open shifts:
- Wednesday 8:30-12:30pm – 1 person
- Thursday 8:30-12:30pm – 2 people
- Friday 8:30-12:30pm – 2 people
- Friday 2:30-6:30 PM – 1 person

As you know, the USOPEN is April 22-26th.

We have a ton of stuff to do and have all sorts of Nevada wrestling people helping.

We are putting out a call for the vocally talented in and around our community.

We would like to have a live performance of the National Anthem each morning (9:55 am each morning)
And also before the afternoon sessions (3:55 pm) on Thursday-Saturday.

We already have some talented singers asking.

But would love to mix it up a bit like a HS Mariachi band or other band.

Have them reach out to Rob directly or send a message to our facebook so we can coordinate.

Weigh-in tonight for the snwa folkstyle championships. 7pm-8pm at spring valley high school in the aux gym.

If you cant make it tonight the last weigh-in opportunity is 7:30-8:00am on Saturday.

Visit southernNVwrestling.org for the flyer and the specific schedule.

Also, you must weigh-in wearing a singlet and you must have your USA card to scan at the scales.

If you dont have your card ready to be scanned at the scales, they will direct you to the back of the line so you have time to pull up a copy of your card on your phone. Dont get mad, just be prepared.

Good evening!
Just a quick heads up registration for this weekend’s SNWA Championship tournament is due by TUESDAY at NOON!! Registration is $45 for this tournament and needs to be submitted by DEADLINE… if you do not register by DEADLINE you will need to register on site for $65. Please also remember this tournament has HARD weigh ins. Currently weighins are ONLY being held Saturday morning…
If you are planning to go to state in Fallon, whatever weight class you declare for the SNWA championship is where the TOP 2 finishers will be seeded at the state tournament…

Time to register for the snwa folkstyle championships. Your registration fee includes the snwa season league fee. The medals are outstanding, the champions and runner-ups are seperated from the north regional winners at the state tournament. This is truly the “big one” in southern Nevada.

Parents and Coaches PLEASE let us know if your child is pulling out of today’s tournament! Our brackets are seeded and jam packed!! Every drop means a change to a bracket and a possible entry for a wrestler on the wait list!! Please let us know ASAP!!!

⚠️ Important Notice for Our Wrestling Families

We’ve already seen a major uptick in skin infections this season. Multiple high school teams and several youth wrestlers have dealt with impetigo and ringworm; both are highly contagious and must be fully treated and healed before any wrestler returns to the mat.

➡️ Impetigo requires prescription treatment from a doctor.
Over-the-counter meds will NOT work.

Symptoms to Watch For

📌 Ringworm (Tinea):
• Circular, red, scaly rash with a raised edge
• Itchy patches
• Can appear anywhere on the skin or scalp; if located on scalp it requires an oral prescription

📌 Impetigo:
• Red sores or blisters that burst
• Honey-colored crusts
• Often around the mouth, nose, or extremities
• May spread quickly

Prevention for All Wrestlers
• Shower immediately after every practice and match
• Use clean towels; never share them
• Wash gear, clothing, knee pads, and headgear after every use
• Keep fingernails short
• Clean and sanitize mats daily
• Report any suspicious spots, rashes, or sores immediately
• If your wrestler has a skin issue, keep them off the mat until cleared by a doctor

Coaches’ Reminder:
All coaches should be cleaning and disinfecting mats after every practice and performing regular skin checks on their athletes. Early detection and proper sanitation are key to preventing these infections from spreading.
