Scouts had the most epic trip this week. I arraigned to go visit a company I am a huge supporter of that will be amazing for RI when they get through sea trials this fall. The company is Regent and they are inventing a cutting edge WIG. Check them out by searching in YouTube for details. If you have a 14-21 year curious mind at home that would enjoy experiencing these kinda adventures… DM me. Next week we go to Graduate School of Oceanography for tour and running my ROV in their test tank.

Been a while since I posted… sorry about that. Someone from another group that I am also in mentioned another club I got involved with is hosting an open fly date of this Saturday. 10/28. If you haven’t heard, I joined RIAC or the Rhode Island Aero Modelers after unsuccessfully securing regular property/location/insurance to run races. We started a racing program there and then covid hit and long story… I suggest if you want to learn/fly/explore RC aircraft, sync up with the guys at RIAC. I am going to try to make it there Saturday so maybe we can get the ball rolling again. - Art

RIDC is working to create or get access to open space to fly via Rhode Island Aero Modelers. At this time no official merger plans are occurring but we are encouraging members of RIDC to show up and visit the Beatties Field facility and consider joining RIAC. The next event is August 17 and there will be many demonstrations. Our theme is about like a mini RI Air Show since we haven’t had those for a couple years now. Look forward to seeing lots of familiar and new faces out there. - Art

Had an initial meeting with a landowner last week. Looks promising. Going to be a slow process to get the paperwork moving... but I this is a great step in the right direction.

Looks like we are going to have to miss another meeting. The date is unavailable to me due to a Robotics event. Come out to the RI FIRST FTC Robotics competition to watch the state finals at the NEIT Automotive Campus. Perhaps we do Feb 9 but more likely March 2nd as the next meeting.

Have not heard of someone stepping up to run meeting tonight so IMO it is not happening. Sorry and look forward to seeing everyone next month.

I will not be able to facilitate a Club meeting this Friday. Family conflict. Stay tuned to see if one of the other members can run the meeting .

Thanks

Sorry about the location pull of the funfly. We did setup and fly some gates but ran into a permission dispute. The Schartner family was awesome and gracious enough to let us fly on a just planted field as long as we didn't have an army of people fly. This was why I pulled the location. The land we had thought we were going to fly is not owned by them but abuts their property. We will pursue clarifying the agreement and location for next weekend.
