We are preparing to rush emergency aid to our local animal shelter partners in Donetsk and Gorlovka, who report a very dire situation for their staff, volunteers and the 1,100 dogs in their care.

The negative effects and hardships created by the Covid-19 pandemic have affected animals as well as people. Animals in shelters and rescue centers need fiscal help. The Andrea Claire Matason Memorial Fund for Animal Care (ACMMF) was created to raise funds for micro-grants and donations to local animal shelters and rescue groups. During 2020 we raised over $2500 and were able to offer three $500 micro-grants and over $800 in donations to shelters and rescue groups. During the season of giving, please donate to the ACMMF. The Andrea Claire Matason Memorial Fund for Animal Care (ACMMF) is proud to announce that, as a result of the generous donations we have received since April, we have awarded three micro-grants in the amounts listed to the following local animal rescue groups:

1. All But Furgotten, Irwin, PA - $500
2. Pet Friends, Inc., Irwin, PA - $500
3. Wayward Animal Rescue, Greensburg, PA - $500

In addition, the ACMMF also made donations in the amounts listed to the following:

1. Cat Rangers Rescue Group, Acme, PA - $100
2. Frankie’s Friends Cat Rescue, New Kensington, PA - $100
3. Animal Friends of Westmoreland, Youngwood, PA _ $100
4. Action for Animals, Latrobe, PA - $100
5. Helping Hearts/ Healing Tails Animal Rescue, Stahlstown, PA - $100
6. White Oak Safe Haven No-Kill Shelter, White Oak, PA _ $100

The ACMMF will continue to conduct fund raising activities so that we can continue to support our local animal shelter and rescue groups with our micro-grant program next year and into the future. We received some very good news today. The IRS has approved our request to have The Andrea Claire Matason Memorial Fund for Animal Care determined to be a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization. Therefore donors who make contributions to the Memorial Fund can deduct them under IRC Section 170. Thanks to everyone who has donated over the past two months. We will be determining who will be getting donations in the name of the memorial fund very shortly
