Our Safe Sleep Baby (SSB) team was invited to discuss prevention culturally-tailored education and evaluation activities our team has done at the SUID & SDY Case Reverse Site Visit recently. Our SSB team via Kembra shared amazing information about how to keep babies safe while sleeping.

💙 Safe Sleep Education Should Meet Families Where They Are.

The Safe Sleep Baby (SSB) program in Sacramento County is transforming infant safe sleep education by combining evidence-based recommendations with culturally responsive, family-centered tools.

We listened to families and our community partners—and built tools designed around real-life experiences, including:
✨ Safe Sleep Family & Wellness Assessments
✨ Personalized Safe Sleep Plans
✨ Multilingual education & interpretation
✨ Trimester-specific resources
✨ Trauma-informed, strengths-based conversations
✨ Provider and community training
✨ Data-driven quality improvement

Our goal isn’t to ask families to leave their culture at the door. It’s to build trust, honor lived experiences, and work together to identify safer sleep practices. 🍼

We’re proud that communities beyond Sacramento County are taking interest in our approach and exploring how these tools can support culturally responsive infant safe sleep education in their own communities.

When we listen. When we collaborate. When we turn education into action—we help create safer beginnings for babies. 💙

Sutter Health presents Run Your Gourd Off is one week away! Registration is open online the rest of this week, and in-person at the race. 🎉 A BIG WIN FOR BIRTH & BEYOND! 🎉

We are thrilled to share some wonderful news: the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors voted to restore funding for Birth & Beyond! 💙

This outcome is a testament to the incredible advocacy, dedication, and passion of our staff, partners, families, and community supporters. Our collective efforts made a difference.

The sea of blue throughout the chambers made quite an impression! 💙 It was a powerful and beautiful sight to see so many Birth & Beyond champions standing together in support of children, families, and communities across Sacramento County.
We were especially moved by the compelling testimony shared by staff and families. The heartfelt stories, lived experiences, and clear demonstration of Birth & Beyond’s impact helped underscore why these services are so essential.

Thank you again to everyone who stood with Birth & Beyond and for the work you do every day to support children and families. This victory reflects the strength of our community and the power of our collective voice.
