The Rotary Club of Foothill Highlands just wrapped up another HUGE project, facilitating the 3rd annual CELEBRATE NORTH HIGHANDS event at Freedom Park yesterday, Saturday 9-26-2026, along with NHRPD and a few other community partners.

Yes, every fall, thousands of neighbors, families, business owners, and organizations gather to celebrate the great people and cultures that make North Highlands home. This is a FREE event, for all-ages and includes a day of fun, food, and community — there are live performances, food trucks, kid activities, and local vendors. The horseback riding, gigantic bounce houses, 360 photo booth and Zorb attractions were a hit!

It is truly a celebration of the zip code! Rotary Club President Miguel Benitez kicked off opening ceremonies with a warm welcome and County Supervisor Rosario Rodriguez also was present to share some inspiring words. We also presented the Community Rockstar award to Kenya Bell, a local business owner for all her hard work, passion and dedication in supporting many efforts in our local community.

Hey, we'll be back, see you in September 2027!! Meanwhile, if you missed it, here's a short 3min video to see a little of the magic...

Rotary International relies on an annual leadership turnover. Over 27,000 club leaders (including club presidents, secretaries, and board members), 540+ District Governors, and 8 to 9 international directors rotate out of their positions every single year to ensure continuous growth and fresh perspectives! Because the organization consists of over 46,000 individual clubs, the sheer volume of Rotary positions changing hands annually is massive.

Here's the the story of just one. Last night, Foothill Highlands "demoted" outgoing Club President Patrick Magnani after a stellar year. For those lucky enough to attend, we had an amazing evening complete with a comprehensive slide show covering Pat's almost 15 years in Rotary with pictures, videos and, with a little help from AI, we also had some fun. The traditional comedy roast followed a lovely dinner and then some member and Foundation recognitions. All in all a GREAT night. Wait, you weren't there or maybe you were? Attached you'll find a delightful playback of that very fun (and humorous) slide show. It's certain to go viral! Enjoy!!

We meet most Monday's for lunch at the Lion's Gate Hotel if you'd like to join us for the FUN, and you should!
