Virtual Picture Day!! 01/15/2021

Dear Parents.

In a continuing effort to keep all students and staff safe, we are making changes to the way we create student ID cards. We will be using Excel Photographers High5.ID service for this project.

We will be having a Virtual ID Card Picture Day on Friday 1/15/2021. You will be requested to take a picture of your student with your phone. You will need to enter their students ID number to ensure your image is attached correctly. The ID cards will be printed ready to hand out when students return to campus.

A Digital Id can be sent to the student’s phone for instant use. If you would like to have it sent to the guardian’s phone, please enter that phone number into the students record.

We would like this to be a fun and engaging event. Please Dress to Impress and look your best.

We anticipate a traditional picture day will be allowed later in the year. For questions about this process please email [email protected]

This year Kohler will be using Parent Square to do our Parent Teacher Conferences . If you have not yet created a
Parent Square account, please do so as soon as possible.

Conferences will be held on November 19th and 20th. However sign ups will begin on November 2.

INTERNET ACCESS FOR FAMILIES
Internet access is an essential part of being able to connect with teachers and classmates. If you do not already have service, we have multiple options below to provide you with free or reduced cost internet.

Twin Rivers is providing free internet access to many district families in a partnership with Comcast.
This program is available to most Twin Rivers students, with some basic limitations on availability; this is the fastest available completely free service at this time. These are the steps below to apply:

1. Confirm your household qualifies for Comcast service via the partner page: https://www.internetessentials.com/apply

2.You will provide your address to see whether you qualify for Comcast service in your area:

3. Once you confirmed you qualify contact the Twin Rivers Technology Support Line by email at [email protected] or calling (916) 566-7802, Monday - Friday, 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. to obtain the free Comcast sign-up code.

Please do not complete the application before you receive the code from Tech Support. The Twin Rivers-provided code will allow the District to pay for the monthly cost. All costs will be covered by Twin Rivers, there will be no monthly cost to you.

4. Complete the application and signup process at the link specified in Step 1 above.

Good Afternoon Kohler Families,

As the cases of COVID-19 decline in the Sacramento region, TRUSD schools are preparing for a gradual return to students on campus. In order to adequately plan for this return, it is necessary to know the numbers of students that will want to stay in a full distance learning setting. We are asking parents to consider this option and complete this form if you would like to commit to keeping your child in full distance learning for the school year.

Please make note of the following when responding:

1. Your child’s teacher may change in order to remain in full distance learning. Every attempt will be made to minimize this change.

2. If you commit to this option, we ask that you commit until the end of the school year.

3. Daily Schedules for synchronous and asynchronous instruction may change as a result of the numbers of students interested in this option.

4. Responses for this option are needed no later than October 9th

If you have decided that your preference is for your children to continue in the distance learning model, please let us know so that we can accommodate your wishes, by filling out the survey linked below no later than October 9th.. NOTE: You should fill out 1 form for each child you wish to continue in distance learning.

1)Spirit Week: We are wrapping up our first Spirit Week of the year! It is so fun to see our students and teachers participate! Remember, tomorrow 9/18 is Blues and Golds Day! Wear your Kohler Gear or wear something Blue and Gold!

2)Speaking of School Spirit, back by popular demand, our Fundraiser to purchase Kohler Gear is back! The website will be live on Tuesday 9/22/2020. Be on the lookout for an announcement with the link!

3)Meal Pick up. We are continuing to offer meals at Kohler. All youth under the age of 18 are allowed to pick 1 meal bag. Each meal bag contains a breakfast, lunch and a supper. Times are 7:00 - 8:00 AM and 11:30 - 1:00 PM

It’s hard to believe that we are close to wrapping up our 4th week of school! As we conclude the week I want to give a few announcements and reminders:

1) Spirit Week: We had a successful spirit day last friday! It was great to see our Blues and Golds represented on our class zooms! It was such a success, we are happy to announce that the week of September 14th-18th is a spirit week! Designed by our 7th and 8th grade Leadership Class! We are really proud of our student leaders! Please see the image below for instruction on each day!

3) i-Ready: We had a great participation rate for our i-Ready diagnostic! We are so proud of our Kohler scholars! A quick reminder for parents, as tempting as it is, please do not read passages for your students or help them with their quizzes. i-Ready is a great ELA support that really helps our teachers identify critical areas that our students need. It’s OK for our students to struggle with i-Ready which is designed to help students grow over time, not over night.

Hello Kohler families! We are having our first spirit week! Starting Monday September 14th - Friday September 18th.
Monday: Pajama Day
Tuesday: Sports Day
Wednesday: Hawaiian Day
Thursday: Sunglass Day
Friday: Kohler Pride - (wear blue and gold).

We are also excited to announce our instagram page! We have a school Instagram account () that our Kohler community can follow where we will post school related pics and events.

How can students and families post their Spirit Week photos without sending them to you or asking for photo upload permission?
