A shelter full of animals in need, and a community that wanted to help but didn’t know how. 🐾

Gold Award Girl Scout Grace saw that gap and closed it. Her project, Golden Paws: Increasing Donations and Improving Animal Welfare, gave her community an easy, lasting way to support ROAR (Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue).

Over 87 hours, Grace:
🔨 Built and painted two donation bins with her team and placed them at a local club and her high school
📱 Created QR-coded flyers that connect neighbors to ROAR’s donation page
🎤 Spoke to a crowd at a community dog show, where donations came in all in one day
🐶 Created a new donation manager role in her school club so the bins will keep helping the shelter long after she graduates

The result? More consistent supplies for ROAR and a community that is more informed about the importance of shelter donations.

That’s the Gold Award difference: finding a need, taking action, and creating change that lasts. 💛

Congratulations, Grace!

When people think of bridging, they picture little girls crossing a bridge. Troop 40324 of New Milford were once those little girls.

This season, they crossed their bridge as Senior Girl Scouts into Ambassadors at Kent Falls State Park. Five of their nine were at the very first meeting, and their troop leader can still see those toothless smiles. 💚

Cheers to every Girl Scout bridging this season. The future is waiting for you. ✨

Treats & Reads 2026 is about more than sweet treats and great reads... it’s an opportunity for Girl Scouts to get creative, build confidence, develop entrepreneurial skills, and earn money for their troop’s goals! ✨

Just ask Pip, a Senior Girl Scout who’s using the sale to help fund her Gold Award journey, Camporee, and fun troop field trips.

Girl Scouts and volunteers, there’s still time to get involved! 🙌 Help make this season a success and give girls the opportunity to turn their goals into reality.

Gold Award Girl Scout Prisha turned her vision into a lasting community resource with the creation of a Fairy Garden and Storybook Trail at the Avon Land Trust. Designed to encourage children and families to unplug, explore nature, and spend time together outdoors, the project has already become a destination for local families.

Congratulations, Prisha, on earning the Girl Scout Gold Award and creating a space where imagination, learning, and community can grow for years to come! 💛🌿📚

🏆 Volunteer Recognition Nominations are open! 🏆

“Activities like this and achievements like this go a long way to inspire me, to encourage me, to give me faith. Because it teaches you more than just the projects. It teaches us larger things about civic duty, about involvement, about doing good work.” 💚

Milford Mayor, Mayor Rich Smith, shared these words at the Silver Award celebration, honoring 11 Girl Scouts from Troop 30320 who earned the second-highest honor in Girl Scouting while bridging to Seniors.

Through their Silver Award projects, these Girl Scouts identified a need in their community and took action to address it, leading the way in making Milford a little better. We’re so proud of their hard work, their commitment, and the families who supported them every step of the way. 🌟

One Girl Scout's mission to support youth mental health is changing lives and earning recognition across Connecticut. 💚

Congratulations to lifetime Girl Scout, Emily Birdsey of Enfield, who recently received a citation from the Connecticut General Assembly from State Senator John Kissel, R-7, for her 2026 Gold Award project.

She was joined on the senator's local cable TV program "Kissel and Friends," by her mom and Troop Leader, Nicole Birdsey. Emily spoke about how her own experience with art therapy motivated her to give access to mental health activities that teens and younger children could use for managing stress and emotions. To ensure the project's sustainability, she partnered with the Enfield Public Library and the Hartford Boys & Girls Club and trained others to lead the guidebook of activities she created.

Asked about the main takeaways from her Gold Award experience, Emily said, "I'd say how important Girl Scouts is and how important mental health is."
