It's Mailbox Improvement Week!
The Postal Service has designated the third full week of May as “Mailbox Improvement Week” to encourage customers to examine and, where necessary, improve the appearance of their mailboxes. Customers should provide mailboxes that are:
*Large enough (within allowable size limits) for daily mail and package volume
*Address on outside of the box (including apt numbers if needed)
*Securely fastened to the post
*Height of between 41-45” from road surface to bottom of mailbox
*No potential hazards (sharp edges, rusty boxes, broken door)
*Flag in working order
*No plants or other objects obstructing the door opening
*Door in working condition (easy to open and close)
*Box facing the road at a level position (not leaning forward or backwards)
