Meet Caroline Abate! A member of the class of 2022, she serves as our Old Colony YMCA Mentorship Volunteer Coordinator along side Emma!

Caroline's Story:
"Since my freshman year, I’ve been mentoring with the Old Colony YMCA and am so excited to be the volunteer coordinator, along with Emma Bergstrom, for mentoring this year! Participating in the mentoring program has taught me patience and the importance of connection. I would say the most important thing I’ve learned is how we thrive when we build one on one connections. Freshman year the day I met my mentee, he was very quiet, super shy, and would only answer questions with one word. By April, we were laughing, having full conversations, and even had some inside jokes. Seeing him become more and more comfortable at each mentoring session was really impactful! Mentoring and service in general has made me realize the importance of supporting our youth since they will someday be leading our country. It has also made me realize how we can thrive when we feel supported and heard."

Meet Sydney Crain! A member of the class of 2022 with a major in Psychology! She serves as our Bi-County Collaborative Volunteer Coordinator!

Sydney's Story:
"Service is significant to me because service has taught me so much about myself in the short few years that I have dedicated myself to service. When I serve, my singular goal is to make the community I live in stronger than the day before. Every time you serve, you learn something, and knowledge is a powerful tool that contributes to our everyday lives."
