PA Grape Queen

PA Grape Queen The Pennsylvania State Grape Queen and Princess promote the Pennsylvania Grape Industry across the state.

The Pennsylvania Grape Queen is selected under the direction of the Pennsylvania Grape Queen Committee. The all-volunteer committee operates under the authority of the Commodity Queens division of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and works closely with the North East Community Fair Association, Inc. In order to be eligible to compete for the honor of representing the Pennsylvania Grape i

ndustry, a girl must be a resident of Pennsylvania and entering her junior or senior year of high school in the year that she applies. Applications are typically accepted during the months of March through May with the coronation being held during the third week of September in conjunction with the North East Community Fair. Applicants are judged on their personality and poise, knowledge of the grape industry and nutrition, and public speaking. Judging occurs during several events and culminates with the coronation program. Scholarships for the Queen and Princess(es) are provided by the Farmer’s Golf Tournament, Welch Foods, Inc./National Grape Cooperative, Inc., North East Chamber of Commerce, and other community donations
The Pennsylvania Grape Queen Committee has produced a cook book of grape recipes, “Divine Recipes Fit for a Grape Queen,” that contains nearly 300 grape recipes. Books may be ordered from the PA Grape Queen Committee, 78 East Main St., #2, North East, PA 16428, for $10.00 plus $3.00 for shipping and handling. The Pennsylvania Grape Queen and Princesses are available to promote the grape industry at your event. For further information, you may write the committee at 78 East Main St., #2, North East, PA 16428, call (814) 725-9264, or email .
