PACS saving battlefields. Acre by acre.

Thank you to the reenactors of 1st Legion, Provisional Army of the Confederate States (PACS) for their continued commitment to battlefield preservation! Earlier today, Brian Guesuero and Dale Foxwell presented SVBF staff with a $2,000 contribution toward the preservation of 131 acres of the Tom's Brook Battlefield. PACS continues to be the leading reenacting organization when it comes to preserving the Valley's battlefields.

Events are below. Captain Cook will be at New Market with the medical team. We will not be doing signals there.
Remberace day is a given as this we attend every year.
This year we are looking to do Corbit's Charge and will be attending the CWHI Gettysburg.
We are looking into Penny Packer also.
Please advise if there is something you want to do and it is not on the list.

Hello,Dear Friends,

We have very sad news. Uncy went to heaven yesterday.
He was a soulmate to John, and such a dear friend to so many of us. He was 24 years old, and had been experiencing neurologic issues with his hind legs. Though he was otherwise in excellent health, he could no longer stand.

Thousands of wonderful memories fill our hearts. We are so grateful for the magical ride he gave John, and for the pure charm and kind heart that made him always the best horse in the barn.

Brokenheartedly,
Anne

This makes us proud!! When Captain Cook n I started in the Ches Sigs this young man was always around n made us laugh. When his parents couldn’t find him our camp was the first place they looked and usually didn’t have to look anymore. Davey congrats to you and we all wish you the best!!

Members and friends of the Legion,

By now we have all heard about the letter Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation received last week demanding that they cancel the event or face reprisals in the form of protests, disruptions and possibly bodily harm to the reenactors. I want you all to know that this letter was investigated by the Frederick County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was found to not be a credible threat. The decision was made to move foreword with the event. If there was any legitimate concern for the health and safety of the participants of the event, both reenactors and spectators, there would be no hesitation from the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation in canceling the event. However, in the spirit of caution and concern, security will be increased for the event. There will be an increase in police presence through out the entire weekend as well as identity verifications at registration and pass checks for reenactors.

It is important that we remain vigilant and lookout for our reenacting family at all events that we attend. The most important thing we can do is attend the events. If we give in to the tyranny of evil men and their scare tactics by staying home, then our hobby is doomed and those that wish this to be true have won. Let’s support this event and each other while we stand tall against adversity. Join me at Cedar Creek where it will be business as usual for the Provisional Army of the Confederate States.

I respectfully remain,

Brian Gesuero
General, Commanding
Provisional Army of the Confederate States
“Nous sommes la Legion”

PS~ Feel free to share this positive message with anyone who would find it useful.
