MWV Habitat For Humanity

MWV Habitat For Humanity Mount Washington Valley Habitat for Humanity, through volunteerism and community involvement, builds simple, decent homes with and for our neighbors in need.

The Mt. Washington Valley Habitat for Humanity affiliate is part of Habitat for Humanity International, a global, nonprofit housing organization. We are a state chartered non-profit organization - a 501C(3) IRS tax-deductible organization. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing p

olicies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. Our office is located in Settlers Green, just off Route 16 at 2 Common Court, North Conway, NH 03860-5424 603-356-3832 [email protected]

The progress photos from the last couple of weeks don’t show much. Our many volunteers hung the drywall throughout the house. We now have Guilford Painting busy preparing the walls for us.

While the walls are being finished, we will NOT be working on August 27. The following week, it will be all hands painting.

Habitat is so very proud to congratulate and welcome our newest family!

What is MWV Habitat for Humanity up to now?
People are noticing a house being built off of Rte 16 in Albany on Ficke Drive. It is the first of five homes to be built in this new MWV HfH development.
It took nearly 5 years to purchase, engineer, and obtain all of the permits required to start construction in this subdivision. Take a look at what we are doing in the photos.

It was another busy Thursday at the Albany site. House siding was started and made the house look terrific. Also, the roof was completed by Mike Lyons Roofing. Many hands make light work.

We work on site every Thursday and everyone is welcome to help.

Another Thursday and another 90 degree day at our Albany build. Some of our crew got started early on the roof and the interior crew finished the wall framing. Windows arrived late morning and were installed within a couple of hours. It’s fun when material delivery timing goes well. A big thanks to Mike Lyons Roof Repair for getting half of the roof complete.
We also welcomed the Kennett Summer Camp students who helped us prepare the house for siding.

Progress continues at our Albany site. The roof is on and ready for shingles. Our volunteers were also busy inside the house installing the ceiling strapping. Interior walls go up next week.
Eversource made our final electrical meter connection to the house, which means no more generator noise all day.

The overnight storms wreaked havoc in the area and closed many of the roads used by our suppliers and volunteers. But our dedicated partners took the long way to Albany - HR Hoyt drove the crane through Ossipee; Silver Lake Hardware was washed out from flooding but still got a truck out to us; and Martin-Jean construction drove backroads into Ossipee to give us a hand.

Everyone came together to hoist the roof trusses and start the roof sheathing - despite the closed roads and the heat. We are thankful to have such help.
