MWV Habitat For Humanity

MWV Habitat For Humanity Mount Washington Valley Habitat for Humanity, through volunteerism and community involvement, builds simple, decent homes with and for our neighbors in need.

The Mt. Washington Valley Habitat for Humanity affiliate is part of Habitat for Humanity International, a global, nonprofit housing organization. We are a state chartered non-profit organization - a 501C(3) IRS tax-deductible organization. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing p

olicies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. Our office is located in Settlers Green, just off Route 16 at 2 Common Court, North Conway, NH 03860-5424 603-356-3832 [email protected]

The overnight storms wreaked havoc in the area and closed many of the roads used by our suppliers and volunteers. But our dedicated partners took the long way to Albany - HR Hoyt drove the crane through Ossipee; Silver Lake Hardware was washed out from flooding but still got a truck out to us; and Martin-Jean construction drove backroads into Ossipee to give us a hand.

Everyone came together to hoist the roof trusses and start the roof sheathing - despite the closed roads and the heat. We are thankful to have such help.

With close to 20 volunteers on site this week, it made for a productive work day. But the good weather also brought out additional contractors. Coleman, HEB Engineering, and Perm-a-Pave were there paving the road of our subdivision. Eversource dropped by to review our meter installation for final power to the home. And St. Andrews Church of Tamworth grilled enough food to feed our volunteers and the paving crew. We are humbled by all of the support.

The progress continues at the Albany build site. HR Hoyt saved our schedule by pouring the floor slab earlier this week. GT Burke filled in our utility trench to give us a safe work site.
That help meant the site was ready for our full build crew today. Everyone hit the ground running with exterior walls being built.

Sometimes we have to work more than one day a week to keep up with our contractor’s schedule. We spent today laying the radiant heat tubing in preparation for our floor slab pour tomorrow morning.
Our volunteer electricians took advantage of the crew on site to install the underground utility conduit.

Today’s torrential rain might have stopped our volunteers, but they have been busy working with our Albany site contractors, GT Burke &Sons, Coleman Concrete, and HR Hoyt Construction. They have all worked hard over the last few weeks to prepare our foundation. Next week we plan to have our full crew of volunteers building the 2026 home.
