A whirlwind of a weekend. Philmont training day 27. Up Mt Chocorua 10 miles 2582 ft elevation gain. One more trail ( the beeline) and we will have red lined the area! Awesome. After a great Eagle Scout Court of honor we made camp and had time for some fun: cards, frisbee, a campfire, and s’mores! During the night we weathered a killer thunderstorm (one scout woke up to an inch of water in their tent). In the morning we packed up like a champ, had breakfast, and celebrated a milestone birthday of one of our best hiker buddies and expert photographer. We got on the trail early and tackled another awesome hike. Add another terrifying 25 hike to our holster ta boot! We had our first injury on the trail. (Twisted ankle) but thanks to two of our stellar leaders got him down to the trailhead and off to home and back up to the group in record time! Well done guys! Had a short but enjoyable lunch break at the liberty cabin. Rain, mud, slickness, socked in summit, wet pants, and some minor miscommunication couldn’t stop us from absolutely owning today’s hike. Great day!
