Another project we worked on recently was putting in a small garden for Step by Step Daycare! This group of sailors helped build 4 raised beds for mixed veggies and one big bed for pumpkins 💪 Excited for the children to spend time in the garden!

We've been busy recently! 🌱💪 A couple weeks ago we partnered with Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics to install a new garden in their courtyard! We built 8 raised beds, filled them with wood chips and compost, planted, and put up fencing in ONE day. Excited to continue to help it grow so their patients can receive free, fresh veggies grown right on the property!

We'll have a table set up at the North Chicago Public Library today! Come see us and get a free tomato plant (kindly donated to us by Liberty Prairie) 😃

We'll be conducting health screenings that include glucose check, cholesterol screening, and blood pressure check. Additionally, we'll be providing point-of-care testing and administering vaccines.

We had a great day yesterday volunteering with the Lovell Federal Health Care Center's community living center to help prep their raised garden beds for planting! Looking forward to working with them this season. 😃

Two of our Board Members and our Executive Director took a trip down to the capital last week for a Food & Farm Advocacy Day! We had a wonderful time meeting new folks and connecting with old friends while showing our support for local food legislation and spreading the word about GHV's work. Plus, we got to visit Senator Adriane Johnson, which is always a pleasure. :-)

We need your help! Growing Healthy Veterans needs to take the next steps to grow and expand its impact in North Chicago.

Our mission is to empower and heal veterans and members of the military through horticultural therapies while fostering wellness in communities experiencing food insecurity.

You can be a part of caring for our veterans and helping end food insecurity in North Chicago.
