Scott Keith is a 30-year veteran of the facility/events management industry working in a variety of facilities/events (stadiums, arenas, theatres, convention centers, festivals) and achieved the designation of Certified Venue Executive (CVE) by the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) in 2021.

Scott currently leads the team in North Charleston managing a 12,000- seat coliseum, 2300-seat theatre, and 77,000 square foot convention center on the North Charleston campus.

Mr. Keith has worked in facilities in Washington D.C., Lansing and Ann Arbor, MI., Denver, CO., and Cumberland, MD., and consulted in numerous other facilities/events around the country. He specializes in operating, opening, and renovating sports and entertainment facilities as well as the development of new events. The mission of managing events and venues is to provide safe environments for attendees to make memories and experiences while adding economic impact to the locale.

If you don’t catch Scott at a hockey game or concert, you are likely to catch him near the water (lake or beach please). Mr. Keith is a 1992 graduate of Liberty University (B.S. Education) and Georgia Southern University (M.S. Sport
Management) in 2002.

Patricia Ploehn is a historic preservation specialist who works on the conservation team at the Warren Lasch Conservation Center. She is a graduate of the Clemson University Master of Science in Historic Preservation program, where she worked on the preservation and documentation of cultural heritage and researched the intersection of cultural and natural resource management. She specializes in the documentation, interpretation, and conservation of cultural landscapes, architectural heritage, and objects/artifacts using methods that include material analysis, 3D laser scanning, National Park Service HABS/HALS/HAER/CLR documentation, and National Register of Historic Places property/landscape nominations. S

he currently serves as the chair of the Lowcountry Alliance for Response, a network of cultural heritage organizations whose mission is to create connections and foster a community of cultural heritage professionals and emergency responders, provide support for organizations to write emergency plans, train cultural heritage caretakers to respond to various types of emergencies, and advocate for local cultural and natural resources that are at risk. Patricia manages the paint analysis projects for WLCC, and specializes in community-based outreach and preservation for the Lowcountry.

At the lab, she also works on conserving maritime cast and wrought iron artifacts from the H.L. Hunley submarine. Her interests include the intersection of cultural heritage and climate change, the relationship between Lowcountry natural and cultural resources, and updates to technology used within the historic preservation and conservation fields.

SPEAKER: Amber Gant, SC Works Trident

Amber M. Gant currently serves as a Workforce Development professional with SC Works Trident, where she leads strategic workforce initiatives focused on employer engagement, talent pipeline development, and community partnerships throughout the Lowcountry region.

Her work includes managing workforce programs, coordinating hiring and recruitment events, supporting apprenticeship and school-to-work initiatives, and building partnerships between employers, educational institutions, and community organizations to strengthen the regional workforce ecosystem.

Amber is passionate about creating pathways to economic opportunity and helping individuals connect to sustainable careers while supporting employers with workforce solutions. She also serves in leadership roles across multiple regional workforce and economic development initiatives.

Charles Carmody was born and raised in Charleston, SC. He attended the College of Charleston. He is the Director of the Charleston Music Hall, a 1,200 seat theatre, and the Music Farm, a 700 capacity club, in downtown Charleston.

He re-opened the Music Hall in 2012 and then got the opportunity to take over and renovate the Music Farm in 2021.
He loves this city and believes that the arts will have a lasting and meaningful impact on this community.

Brian Itzkowitz, a distinguished nonprofit social enterprise leader with over 20 years of experience, has served as president and CEO of Palmetto Goodwill since October 2021. Under his leadership, the organization has expanded partnerships and strengthened its impact across lower South Carolina. His career includes executive roles at Goodwill Industries International and regional Goodwill affiliates, where he earned national recognition for driving growth and promoting economic independence through training, education, and employment.

A respected voice in the nonprofit sector, Brian is known for his strategic planning and community engagement expertise. He was named a Riley Fellow in 2024 through the Riley Institute’s Diversity Leaders Initiative, reflecting his commitment to inclusive leadership. He also serves on multiple nonprofit boards, working to create opportunities for underserved populations and ensuring every community member has the chance to thrive.
