A year ago, Myles walked into Topgolf Myrtle Beach feeling nervous but hopeful for a new opportunity. Today, he is being recognized with one of the company’s highest honors — the Gold Star Spirit of the Shield Award ⭐🏆

Since starting his job, Myles has grown tremendously in confidence, independence, and teamwork. He has built meaningful friendships 🤝, found a workplace where he feels supported and included 💙, and truly enjoys coming to work each day.

Myles went to Dallas, Texas ✈️🤠 to be recognized at the corporate level alongside other award recipients from across the company. What an incredible accomplishment!

Stories like Myles’ remind us what is possible when individuals are given opportunity, support, and a workplace that believes in them. We could not be more proud of him and all he has accomplished. 🌟

Congratulations, Myles! 🎉👏

💭 The biggest fear we hear from families is:
“What happens if I lose my financial benefits if my child starts working?”

You are not alone in that fear — and it deserves real answers, not guesswork.

Let’s name the fear clearly
❗ “What if my child loses their benefits?”

Now let’s reframe it with the truth
🧪 Trial Work Period → a safe way to test working without losing benefits
🛡️ Built‑in protections to prevent sudden loss of income
🐢 It’s gradual — not an all‑or‑nothing jump
🔄 Expedited reinstatement if benefits are ever needed again
📝 Protection from Continuing Disability Reviews while using the program

Other common fears we hear
🔹“What if they aren’t ready”
🔹“What if it doesn’t work out”
🔹“What if they get overwhelmed”

These fears are normal — and they’re exactly why support exists.

🤗 This program is designed to move at your child’s pace.
No pressure. No rushing. Just support.

🤝 You don’t have to figure this out alone
We’re here to walk through every step with you.

❓ Is Ticket to Work right for your family

This program is designed for individuals who:
🎯 Are between ages 18–64
💵 Receive SSI or SSDI
🌱 Are interested in working (even just thinking about it) and want to slowly increase earnings

For many families, the question isn’t “Do we want to work”
It’s “How do we do this safely”

Ticket to Work can help if:
🌟 Your child wants more independence
❓ You’re unsure how work affects benefits
🧭 They need support getting started
🤝 You don’t want to figure this out alone
✨ You don’t need a full plan. You just need a starting point.

📅 Friday, we’ll talk about the biggest fears families have about working — and how this program is designed to support you through them.

🌟 Did you know there’s a program that helps individuals on SSI or SSDI explore working without immediately losing their benefits?

It’s called Ticket to Work, and it’s a free program through Social Security.

Through this program, individuals can:

🔍 Explore job interests
💪 Build skills and confidence
📝 Get help with resumes and interviews
🤝 Receive ongoing support on the job

The goal isn’t to rush anyone into work — it’s to provide a safe, supported pathway toward independence.

✨ And the best part… it’s completely voluntary.

If you’ve ever wondered what working could look like for you, your child, or a family member, this is a great place to start.

📅 Follow along this week as we break it down and help you decide if it might be a good fit for your family.

🏡 Building a More Inclusive Charleston Starts with Housing for All

Everyone deserves a place to live, belong, and thrive.

SOS Care is proud to support the vision of a Neuro-Inclusive Housing Framework—a community-centered approach that creates housing opportunities where neurodiverse individuals and people of all abilities can live with dignity, independence, and connection.

Neuro-inclusive communities are designed to foster:
✅ Diverse and affirming housing options
✅ Community connection and belonging
✅ Supportive services and resources
✅ Sensory-friendly and accessible design
✅ Choice, equity, and dignity

As we work toward making this vision a reality, SOS Care is actively seeking land, development partnerships, and affordable housing opportunities located near public transportation and bus routes throughout the Tri-County area (Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties).

If you know of available property, development opportunities, or affordable housing resources that could support inclusive housing initiatives, we would love to hear from you.
