RMC Support R.M.C. Inc., was created to raise awareness of Renal Medullary Carcinoma, a rare form of kidney cancer that is associated to sickle cell trait.

(Renal Medullary Carcinoma) Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. was established in 2013, with the purpose to raise awareness of an extremely rare and devastating kidney cancer that primarily affects those with the sickle cell trait. It is also our hope to raise funds to assist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX,

The National Institutes of Health and other facilities researching RMC. Over 3 million Americans are affected by the sickle cell trait, and more than 300 million people worldwide have the sickle cell trait. This disease not only affects African Americans, but also Caucasians from Southern Europe, Hispanics, South Asians and those of Mediterranean origin. Renal medullary carcinoma has not received the public attention that it deserves. This orphan disease needs immediate attention so that other hospitals will take action to research and provide assistance to individuals affected. spreads awareness and knowledge while providing resources to those with cancer.

The National institute of Health (NIH) defines an “orphan disease" as one that affects fewer than 200,000 individuals in the U.S. By that definition, renal medullary carcinoma is very rare.

That means that the drug companies who develop most of the new drugs usually can't afford to focus on these types of cancers; the market is too small, and the cost of developing a drug is so high.

These usually overlooked cancers find it exceedingly difficult to get support from the drug industry or the government to conduct research. So patients with a rare cancer like RMC, are left with a poor prognosis.
