Celebrating an Eagle Scout! 🦅

Today we had the honor of welcoming Jaydan and his parents to Town Hall, where Mayor Russ Touchberry sat down with him to celebrate his incredible achievement of earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Joining the conversation were two of our very own Eagle Scouts here at Town Hall: Town Administrator Scott Slatton and Public Information Officer Chris Makowski.

Jaydan's journey has been defined by perseverance, servant leadership, faith, and brotherhood. Through the guidance of dedicated leaders and the strong bonds he built with fellow Scouts, Jaydan grew to love the outdoors, high-adventure camping, and the values that have shaped his character.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Jaydan led the design and construction of an accessible Gaga Ball pit at Gahagan Park, creating an inclusive space where children of all abilities can gather, play, and build friendships. It's a project that reflects his heart for service and his desire to bring people together.

A recent graduate of Pinewood, Jaydan will attend Presbyterian College this fall to major in Chemistry, with plans to pursue Pharmacy School. He stays active in church worship ministry, athletics, music, and community service. Above all, Jaydan strives to honor Christ in all he does and hopes to lead and serve others with wisdom, faithfulness, and compassion.

Congratulations, Jaydan! We couldn't be prouder to celebrate you and all you've accomplished. 🎉

We are excited to officially introduce our new Scout Executive, Joseph Andreo! Please join us in welcoming Joe to the Coastal Carolina Council family. Below is a special message from Joe.
_____________________________________________________
I am very excited to be coming on board to lead the Coastal Carolina Council and to make our council the “Crown Jewel” of Southern Scouting! I believe that with Dr. Bobby Baker, Chuck Lance, and myself as the Key 3, we can improve the finances, increase recruitment, and restore camp HO NON WAH to provide an incredible program experience that our youth will remember for the rest of their lives!

My career started after graduating from St. John’s University in Business Management. I worked as a middle office manager, broker, relationship manager, and project manager. In 2014 I decided to make the transition to the nonprofit world of the Boy Scouts of America, now Scouting America. I began as a Development Director at the Connecticut Yankee Council in Milford, CT, was promoted to Sr. Development Director, Director of Development/CFO, Director of Support Services, and Assistant Scout Executive/COO during my tenure there. In 2024 I was selected as the Scout Executive for the Housatonic Council in Derby, CT. During my time in Scouting, I have been fortunate enough to have been able to significantly raise revenue, increase recruitment, and make many Capital Improvements at the 5 camps I ran. Additionally, I was incredibly lucky to have worked with two great boards and many dedicated volunteers that made it possible to have the success I had. I’m anticipating working with many more dedicated volunteers and another great board that will help drive the improvements I am sure we will make.

On a personal note, I am an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, have served on numerous Wood Badge staffs, was staff adviser to the Order of the Arrow, and taught at Camp School. In 2017, I served on staff at the National Jamboree as a commissioner. I enjoy golf, skiing, traveling, and spending time with my family.

I’m looking forward to meeting and working with all the staff, board, and volunteers of the Coastal Carolina Council. Together, we will serve any child who wants to be a Scout and do great things for the best youth program in the world!
