Our work is founded on 3 Pillars: Prevention, Healing, and Justice.

The third Pillar is JUSTICE:
- to ensure access to justice for survivors and accountability for perpetrators and institutions

Children and adolescents who experience sexual violence must have a clear path to justice that is accessible, age-appropriate, and trauma-informed.

We know the models for engaging multi-disciplinary teams and communities in the pursuit of justice. Now it's time to scale these programs and create true lasting change.

Our work is founded on 3 Pillars: Prevention, Healing, and Justice

The second Pillar is HEALING
- to restore hope and reclaim lives for victims, survivors, and their families

Trauma from sexual violence reveals itself in many ways, negatively impacting victims' and survivors' physical health, mental health, sense of identity or belonging, emotional well-being, and beyond.

We know what works to support victims and survivors in their healing journeys. Communities understand how to heal their psychosocial wounds. Now it's time to scale these programs and create true lasting change.

Join the movement to end sexual violence against children and adolescents.

Our mission is for survivors’ stories to not only be heard, but for them to prompt action from lawmakers in order to bring an end to sexual violence against children and adolescents, and to help survivors get the justice and healing they deserve.

Keep Kids Safe is building a survivor-led movement. If you are ready to use your story to guide action and create change, reach out via our website or send us a DM.

You are not alone.

Rates of online sexual abuse of children and adolescents have skyrocketed in recent years. In 2021, more than 84.9 million pieces of digital content sexually exploiting children — including photos and videos — were reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That's a 73% increase from 2019!

If you're as concerned by that statistic as we are, sign the U.S. National Blueprint to End Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents: our roadmap that outlines actionable steps the federal government can take to prevent sexual violence against children both online and offline.

Keeping kids safe from sexual violence is something we can all agree on.

During April’s KKS Hill Day, we partnered with the Bipartisan Task Force to End Sexual Violence to host a roundtable with lawmakers and press. Co-Chairs Rep. Ann Kuster (D, NH-02) and Rep. Dave Joyce (R, OH-14) spoke to the importance of a truly bipartisan approach to addressing sexual violence against children and adolescents, and Reps. Dingell (D-MI), Landsman (D-OH), and Balderson (R-OH) attended as well.

Our mission is for survivors’ stories to not only be heard but for them to prompt ACTION as well. We are calling for legislation that addresses:

✅ PREVENTION: to protect this and every generation to come
✅ HEALING: for victims, survivors, and their families
✅ JUSTICE: for survivors, and accountability for perpetrators and institutions who covered up the abuse.

We are a survivor-led, ally-supported movement working to protect our nation’s children and adolescents from sexual violence. To learn more about the movement or join our coalition, visit https://keep-kids-safe.org/.

In order to prevent sexual violence against children and adolescents, it’s important to know how — and by who — it typically happens.

The vast majority of survivors knew their perpetrator. In many cases, the offender is a person who has established themselves slowly but surely as a trustworthy person in the child or adolescent’s life, winning over trust from the victim and/or their family members. This is part of the grooming process, which is the “deliberate process by which offenders gradually initiate and maintain sexual relationships with victims in secrecy,” as defined by .

Red flags of grooming include:

❌ Showing special attention or preference to a child
❌ Gift giving
❌ Physical affection shown to the child, like hugging or touching
❌ Unsolicited offers to help the victim or their family

Visit d2l.org/child-grooming-signs-behavior-awareness/ to learn more about the warning signs of grooming.
