Venturing Crew 820

Venturing Crew 820 Lead the Adventure! Crew 820 is a program for Boys & Girls aged 14-21 (or 13 and completed 8th Grade). We offer these Classes from October to June!

Founded in December 2017, we meet ounce a month for meetings in June - October. We also promote and operate Aquatics Programs through October - June! Aquatics Programs:

- Tiger Elective Adventure: Floats and Boats
- Wolf Elective Adventure: Spirit of the Water
- Bear Elective Adventure: Salmon Run
+ Webelos Elective Adventure: Aquanaut

These Classes are open for Scout in any Cub Pack or Scout Troop.

History of Us

Formally known as Boy Scout Troop 16 Aquatics Programs was founded in 1950’s and was running out of the Canton C*C. When the Canton C*C Closed, the program were moved to the Meyers Lake C*C. Since we were running the the program every year our troop didn’t have the numbers to just run the program for Troop 16. So in 1990 we opened it up to all other Scouting Units! In 2010 the program moved again to the Perry High School Natatorium, a year later in 2011 we started doing Learners Swim Lessons & Webelos Aquanaut! The Webelos Aquanaut class grew in 2013 hitting the class limit and we still had scouts interested in the program, we added a second Webelos Aquanaut class for the 2014-2015 offering classes in December & March. 2017 was a big year for the programs, we maxed out Swimming & Lifesaving Merit Badges, and 1 Webelos Aquanaut Class! Also in 2017 Taylor Symensma & Allan Hively were looking into taking the programs and continuing the adventure from a Venturing Crew! In December 2017 Aquatics Venturing Crew 820 was Chartered at John Knox Presbyterian Church in North Canton, Ohio. Later in 2018 we added 3 new programs Cub Scout Aquatics (Boats & Floats - Tiger, Spirit of the Water - Wolf, & Salmon Run - Bear), Discover Scuba Diving, & Scuba Diving Merit Badge. In 2019 we replaced the Discover Scuba Diving to a more scout related program, Scuba BSA.
