Can we stop pretending the only two options are silence or rebellion?

Every time a woman asks a question, teaches Scripture, leads, uses her gifts, or discusses theology, someone labels it "feminism."

But the Bible is full of women who faithfully served God with courage and conviction.

Deborah judged Israel.

Huldah instructed a king.

Priscilla helped teach Apollos.

Phoebe carried Paul's letter to Rome.

The daughters of Philip prophesied.

None of that was feminism.

It was obedience.

The issue isn't whether women should seek power.

The issue is whether we are willing to let God use whoever He chooses.

I don't want authority for authority's sake.

I don't want control.

I don't want special treatment.

I simply want Scripture to be read honestly and applied consistently.

That's not feminism.

That's a commitment to truth.

Can we talk about the word "submission" for a minute?

Because somewhere along the way, many people began treating submission as if it means silence, unquestioning agreement, or never having a voice.

But that's not how Scripture describes it.

Ephesians 5:21 says:

"Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ."

One another.

Mutual humility.

Mutual service.

Mutual love.

Submission was never presented as a tool for control. It was presented as a posture of Christlike character.

Jesus Himself lived in submission to the Father.

Yet He taught.

He led.

He corrected.

He served.

He spoke with courage and conviction.

Submission did not erase His voice.

It shaped how He used it.

And yes, I know someone will immediately say, "But Jesus was a man."

That's not the point.

The point is that biblical submission was never defined by silence. It was defined by obedience to God.

So perhaps the question isn't whether women can submit.

The question is whether we've misunderstood what biblical submission actually is.

Because biblical submission reflects the heart of the Father.

Control does not.

When you open your Bible, what are you looking for?

Are you reading to know God more deeply and allow His Word to shape you?

Or are you reading to defend what you've already decided to believe?

Those are two very different ways of approaching Scripture.

The first asks, "Lord, teach me."
The second asks, "Lord, validate me."

One posture changes us.
The other simply confirms our existing beliefs.

For years, women have been told to stay in their lane, be quiet, or make themselves smaller.

But when God calls someone, that calling doesn't come from a denomination, a title, or a vote.

It comes from Him.

I've spent over 30 years serving the Church, and I've watched far too many gifted women question themselves because someone else questioned them first.

So if that's you, hear me:
God hasn't changed His mind about you.

If you're a woman carrying a calling and wondering if there's still a place for you in the Kingdom, there is.

Pull up a chair.

You're my people. ❤️

To the women who feel called by God but are wondering where they fit right now:

I see you.

I've spent more than 30 years in ministry, and I've spent plenty of time in the trenches of these conversations.

If you're wrestling with questions about your calling, your gifts, your voice, or your place in the Kingdom, I want you to know something:

Don't let someone else's vote determine what God has spoken over your life.

Stay humble. Stay teachable. Study the Word deeply. Find wise mentors. Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Not everyone is called to stand behind a pulpit. Men and women alike should approach ministry with humility and surrender. But if God has placed a burden in your heart to serve, lead, teach, disciple, encourage, or minister to others, don't abandon that calling because someone else questions it.

There are women who have walked this road before you.
Women who have been encouraged, equipped, released, and empowered to serve the Kingdom.

Women who know what it feels like to wonder if there's a place for them.

And women who are ready to help the next generation grow.
If that's you, know this:

You are not alone.

You are welcome here.

And I will continue doing everything I can to encourage, equip, and support women as they pursue all that God has called them to be.

If God called women to carry the gospel…
why are so many people still trying to silence them?

If the Holy Spirit was poured out on men AND women…
why are women still being told to shrink back?

And if women were trusted to carry the news of the resurrection first…
why are their voices suddenly “too much” now?

I’ve been in ministry for over 30 years.

I know what it feels like to be overlooked.
Dismissed.
Talked down to.
Silenced.

But at some point we have to ask:

Are people defending Scripture…
or defending comfort, tradition, and control?

Because God has never had a problem using women.

People do.

So how many women have stayed quiet…
while carrying a calling God never asked them to bury?

How many voices have been silenced by fear of criticism?
How many gifts have been hidden because someone told them they were “too much”?

Not anymore.

If God called you to speak, lead, teach, worship, encourage, create, or disciple…
why would you let fearful people talk you out of obedience?

Maybe the real question is:
Who told women their voice was dangerous in the first place?

One of the hardest parts about conversations today is that many people are no longer actually listening.

The moment a question is asked, people immediately begin trying to figure out:
“Where is this going?”
“What’s their agenda?”
“What answer are they looking for?”
“What trap am I walking into?”

So instead of simply hearing the question, they start preparing defenses.

They begin filtering every word through suspicion, fear, past experiences, ideology, or self-protection.

And once that happens, honest conversation becomes almost impossible.

People stop responding truthfully from conviction and start responding strategically to protect themselves, their position, or the outcome they think is coming.

Somewhere along the way, many conversations stopped being about understanding and became about survival.

And honestly, that should grieve us.

Not every question is a setup.
Not every conversation is an attack.
Not every disagreement is manipulation.

Sometimes people are simply trying to understand each other.

Truth should never be afraid of honest conversation.
