Chisago County 4-H

Chisago County 4-H Chisago County 4-H is a learn-by-doing youth development program that is open to all youth in grades kindergarten through one year out of high school.

4-H in the United States is a youth organization administered by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), with the mission of "engaging youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development." The name represents four personal development areas of focus for the organization: head, heart, hands, and health.

The organization has over 6.5 million members in the United States, from ages five to nineteen, in approximately 90,000 clubs. The goal of 4-H is to develop citizenship, leadership, responsibility and life skills of youth through experiential learning programs and a positive youth development approach. Though typically thought of as an agriculturally focused organization as a result of its history, 4-H today focuses on citizenship, healthy living, science, engineering, and technology programs. Today, 4-H and related programs exist in over eighty countries around the world; the organization and administration varies from country to country. Each of these programs operates independently, but cooperatively through international exchanges, global education programs, and communications. The 4-H motto is "To make the best better", while its slogan is "Learn by doing" (sometimes written as "Learn to do by doing").

Ride for transportation, exercise or competition! If you like traveling, tinkering or racing, you probably like bicycling. Along with taking you from place to place using no fossil fuels, bikes can teach you about safety skills and keep you fit. A bicycle project could be to take a bike trip, fix up a bike and document the process, plan a community bike race, or learn to ride a unicycle.

Let’s Talk About Loneliness in Young People 👥

Because everyone needs someone to talk to.

Loneliness affects young people more than many realize. About 21% of teens report feeling lonely, and many keep those feelings to themselves, making it hard for others to know when they need support.
You can make a difference by choosing to check in. A simple message, a quick call, or a few kind words can remind someone they matter. You never know what someone is going through, and your small act of care might be exactly what they need.

Let’s Talk About Caring for Older Adults 🧓

Because everyone needs someone to talk to.

Loneliness is more common among older adults than many people realize. 43% of older adults report feeling lonely, and many experience it quietly without reaching out for support.

You can make a meaningful difference by choosing to show up, even briefly. Even short visits matter more than you think. A quick check‑in, a shared cup of coffee, or a few minutes of conversation can remind someone that they are valued and not alone.

Let’s Talk About Loneliness in Older Adults 📱

Because everyone needs someone to talk to.

Loneliness affects people of all ages, but it is especially common among older adults. More than one‑third of older adults report feeling lonely, and many experience it quietly without telling anyone.

You can make a difference by choosing to reach out and connect. Sometimes the simplest action matters most. Answer the phone when someone calls, return a message, or take a moment to check in. These small gestures can remind someone that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

Let’s Talk About Cyberbullying 💻

Because everyone needs someone to talk to.

Cyberbullying is more common than many people realize. Over half of teens who go to school experience cyberbullying, and it is often very hard to tell when someone is being targeted online.

You can make a difference by choosing to be a helper, not a bully. Offer support, reach out when something feels off, and help create online spaces where kindness is the norm. Even small actions can interrupt harmful behavior and show someone they are not alone.
