Thank you LA Atatürk Cultural Center for the remarkable “Yadigar” project and exhibition showcasing Anatolian ceremonial costumes and Turkish kilim weaving workshop.
We would also like to thank our Didem Maurice for generously sharing her great grandfather’s tailed tuxedo he wore to the opening of the first Grand National Assembly of the new Turkish Republic in 1920 and her great grandmother’s wedding gown. Both pieces added a deeply personal touch to the exhibition.
Congratulations to all involved for working hard for this outstanding event.

Selvedge Magazine featuring The Sultan’s Garden: The Blossoming of Ottoman Art written by Walter Denny and Sumru Krody to accompany the 2012 Textile Museum incredible exhibition of the same title. It is described as “..is an exploration of how a dynasty translated political authority into botanical form, transforming flowers into an imperial language of power, taste and cultural self-fashioning.” Great reading.
