On the 5th Annual Roberto Clemente Community Service Day, more than 25 Bethesda Big Train Baseball players, staff, interns, and supporters came together to sort, pack, and distribute food so local families could head into the week with full fridges and a little extra peace of mind. Thank you Bethesda Big Train for your ongoing partnership and support!

At First Fruits Farm, Inc., 100% of the food grown is donated to help feed people experiencing hunger. Through their partnership with So What Else, fresh produce can be moved in large quantities and quickly distributed throughout the communities we serve.

As First Fruits Farm’s Jeff Pierce explains, partnerships like this allow both organizations to multiply their efforts and reach more people.

It is a powerful example of what Love Through Community looks like: farms, food rescue organizations, volunteers, and partners working together to make sure fresh food reaches families instead of going to waste.

Food Waste Prevention Week wrapped up with a powerful day of learning, hands-on action, and community at the So What Else Food Rescue Bank over the weekend.

Dave and Chris from the SWE team shared how our organic recycling and diversion efforts keep good food moving to families and out of landfills, while Howard’s compost station walked guests through each stage of turning scraps into healthy soil.

Kellie Lopez from Maryland Worm Company led an engaging vermicomposting workshop where participants saw Red Wigglers up close and even built a worm bin together 🐛

Outside, dedicated volunteers braved the morning rain to sort, rescue, and distribute food to our neighbors.

Thank you to our community partners, staff, and every volunteer who showed up to fight food waste and serve the community. Your commitment helps nourish families today while building a more sustainable tomorrow!
