New Jersey Assemblyman proudly serving the 33rd Legislative District Larry never forgets his family's humble beginnings.

Larry Wainstein is a first generation American and proud graduate of the public school system. He worked at UPS loading trucks to put himself through college and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Saint Peter's University. After graduation, Larry followed in his parents' footsteps and became a small business owner. Later, he used his entrepreneurial experience to focus on job creation and neighborhoo

d growth as the Chairman of Union City's Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ). That is why he and his wife, Imelda, started the Larry Wainstein Family Foundation, which assists the most vulnerable members of the community. Together, Larry and Imelda are raising their two sons, Michael and Matthew, and daughter Allison in North Bergen.

It feels like just yesterday we were dropping Michael and Matthew off at daycare, and now they are graduating from high school.

As their parents, our hearts are filled with gratitude and pride. More important than any achievement, we are proud of the kind, hardworking, and compassionate young men they have become.

Watching them grow has been one of the greatest blessings of our lives, and we are excited to see what the future holds for them.

Congratulations, Michael and Matthew. We love you both beyond words and could not be prouder. ❤️🎓

A restraining order should never be treated like paperwork. For survivors of domestic violence, it can be the line between fear and safety. Today, the Assembly Judiciary Committee advanced legislation (A2240) sponsored by Assemblywoman Shanique Speight, Assemblywoman Ellen Park, and Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson to strengthen coordination between law enforcement, the courts, and the State Parole Board when a parolee violates a domestic violence restraining order.

The bill would require prosecutors and law enforcement to notify the State Parole Board when a parolee is charged with violating a restraining order, helping ensure parole officials have the information needed to respond appropriately and better protect victims.

How time flies! It feels like just yesterday I was picking up my boys from daycare. Now, they’re heading off to their senior prom.

I couldn’t be prouder of the young men they’ve become and all they have accomplished. I know a bright future lies ahead for both of them.

Today, I attended Weehawken Memorial Day Service honoring all those who have served and sacrificed for our country. Thank you to Mayor Turner and the Town Council for the tremendous sense of community they create for all the residents of Weehawken.
