Mayor Nicholas Sacco has reintroduced the “Safe Spot” program into our community for the benefit of local kids. Initiated in 1991, the program provides a safe haven for children across the entire Township of North Bergen through the cooperation of local businesses.

Representatives from North Bergen’s Prevention Coalition have been hanging “Safe Spot” signs in the windows of local establishment that have committed their business to be a safe haven for a child that may feel threatened, and to provide assistance if needed.

That assistance can be anything from a phone call to a place to wait for parents or police.

This program has been very successful over the years and with the help of the business community it will provide an even safer North Bergen for our youth.
