Happy Earth Day - Everyday!! 💚🌏

North Bergen Earth Talks is excited to be back, thank you all for you patience with our hiatus! 🙌

We will be partnering with Hudson County, North Bergen Library, and .Environmental.Club for an upcoming event for our community garden to restore the soil and prep the beds with our gardeners, please feel free to join us!

We are looking forward to continuing efforts with Hudson County, , & to improve Braddock Park by removing invasive plant species and rehabilitating the eco-system with native plants! We are also looking into proposing a learning garden for Braddock Park as well as restoring our compost program nearby the Community Garden! 💚 We are grateful for all our local environmental leaders and volunteers for their support in moving these projects along 💐

🛑 We need to build a massive, visible, national rejection of this crisis. On April 5, we will host events across the country, in major cities and small towns in every state. Our goal is to show that the people—the majority—are taking action to stop the corruption and power grab.

We gained so much insight from about the native and invasive plants on the trails! 💐

bestowed knowledge on how to get involved in our communities to protect our precious natural spaces! 💚

We appreciate for giving a garden tour and sharing some home-grown herbs with the participants! 🌿

We hope you join us on this lovely journey through Braddock Park! We will be walking a leisurely 1-mile trail. This is a walk perfect for families & friends of the community 🌎

We are looking forward to this amazing opportunity to appreciate the 165+ acres of green space in Hudson County! Braddock Park is home to so many essential species of our ecosystem 🕊️ You will definitely be able to see them on this nature walk! We recommend bringing binoculars for the tour if you have them. Bringing a water bottle & sunscreen is encouraged 🙌

We will start at the Braddock Park Community Garden! 🪴 We will be touring the Native plant installation funded through and Hudson Gives 2024 💐 We’ll continue on to admire the beautiful views of our park’s lake 🐢 Then onto the trails! We will be making a brief stop at the illegally-occupied Green Acres space being used as a preschool 📚

Our future is at stake, and we need to act now! 🚫⛽️

Join us at the Treasury Department to demand an end to fossil fuel investments. This is our moment to push for a 100% clean energy future.

Rally with us in support of the Fossil Fuel Divestment Bill (S198)! If S198 is passed, the State pension fund will rightfully divest from over 200 fossil fuel companies, essentially realigning the pension investments toward a most economically and environmentally sustainable strategy 📣

Such a lovely day with our youth urban farm club! 🌶️🥬🍅

Since it was 95 degrees that day, we decided to start indoors at the downtown North Bergen public library and recreation center! We facilitated a discussion about organizing in our local communities for environmental justice 🌎 the youth spent time thinking about projects they’d like to start up in their own towns and we shared ideas/resources to support them on their missions!

Then we got the opportunity to care for the patio community garden 🌿🌱 there were a lot of weeds overpowering our native and vegetable plants/herbs so we removed that competition so our preferred plants can thrive! There was some yummy produce growing in the unclaimed planting beds so we were able to harvest and distribute the produce among the group 🍅🥬

It was such a beautiful day overall and we’re looking forward to the rest of our 2024 program! 💚

Our Third Year of the Braddock Park Youth Urban Farm Club!

We had a lovely first session with the youth that will be learning and growing with us this year! 🙌

The Youth Farm Club was established by the 4H Club which is a network of youth organizations whose mission is “engaging youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development!”

🌎💚

4H has Farm Clubs across the United States, but there aren’t really farms in Urban areas so adapted it to suit our more Urban environment so our youngins have access too!

This first day we spent time getting to know one another, set community agreements/goals for future sessions, explored the garden, planted our own vegetable/herb bed, and shared space with local residents through libation: an acknowledgment of the Lenape land we occupy 🌱🫂

It was such a lovely first day and we are excited to continue learning alongside the youth for the rest of the summer! ☀️
