Main line break update: Most customers water service should be restored. Unfortunately, there are some customers who remain without water. The current ETA is 3 or 4 PM today.

There has been a main line break in the south fork area. The crew is currently working on it. It may be 45 minutes to an hour before water is back to normal pressure. We will update if anything changes.

Annual Meeting and Elections:

The annual meeting of Sallal’s membership will be held on March 28, 2023, at 7 p.m. at our new office. The meeting is open to all members. The Board President will review the prior year’s events and two open Board positions will be voted on by the members at this meeting. The full notes and agenda together with the ballot for election of the board positions will be mailed to all members at least two weeks prior to the meeting.

Two Board positions are up for election at the March 28th Annual Member Meeting. Trustees serve a three-year term once voted in. If you are an individual member in good standing, would like to run for one of those two positions and can dedicate at least 10 hours a month to Board service, please submit a bio to [email protected] or mail to Sallal Water Association Attn: Board Elections, PO Box 378, North Bend, WA 98045.

Your submittal must be received by Sallal no later than 4 p.m. on February 24, 2023 to be on the ballot for the March 28th Annual Members Meeting.

UPDATE
2/16/23 – Sallal hired WestWater Research to appraise the value of our water rights. WestWater Research is the recognized regional and national leader in market research, pricing and valuation of water rights. They have finished the appraisal and it is now available for review here: https://sallal.com/sallal-city-water-issues/

Thanks to our significant progress on the water supply contract negotiations, Senator Mark Mullet does not intend to issue a legislative bill to help the City condemn Sallal’s water system. In fact, he has budgeted $2M to help pay for our costs and the City’s costs to create interties between the two systems if a supply contract can be mutually agreed upon. Senator Mullet has been instrumental in keeping contract negotiations moving forward with reasonable terms. He has stayed in the loop, requested updates along the way from both parties, and encouraged both parties to negotiate in good faith. Without his support, negotiations would likely have not progressed, and we certainly wouldn’t be able to carry out this proposed arrangement without having to utilize our capital reserves. We still have more work to do on the contract, but are optimistic. The Sallal negotiating team wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Senator Mullet for all his assistance.
