We're so excited about being invited to participate in Zonta's Girls Rock it Tools & Trades Camp for the 4th year! This camp is one of our favorite opportunities to engage with the next generation of young women and educate them about the amazing possibilities available to them with union apprenticeships!

Thank you, IBEW Local 932, for your ongoing support of Zonta's Girls Rock it - Tools & Trades! Journeywoman Alysia Borgogno was a guest speaker at GRiTT in 2022 and 2023, and last year she and fellow journeywoman Maria Hughes presented an
electric lighting lab for the campers (and IBEW Local 932 also sponsored the 2024 camp). This year, they have an exciting new lighting lab to present, and they are also a Golden Hammer sponsor! We love this local partnership toward our annual summer camp that teaches basic construction, leadership, and teambuilding skills to girls ages 8-12. Thank you, IBEW Local 932!

A few weeks ago our Sercretary and Chairman attended the 2024 Oregon Women Labor Leaders Summit. This gathering of women from unions all over Oregon and Washington at the Oregon AFL-CIO building in Portland was an absolute powerhouse of empowerment and solidarity!️ From the panel discussions with current labor leaders, and Sisters that paved the way for all of us, about issues women face and their paths to leadership within their unions and beyond, to the connections made with ladies from other unions, we look forward to seeing the power and positive change we're able to bring to the table in 2025. ✊️

Today, December 7 is day 13 of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence.
Frequently women stay in bad situations due to economic dependence on their partner.
Four times per year, Oregon Tradeswomen, Inc. offers a 7-week training class to prepare women to enter into high-wage, high-skill careers in the construction trades. Classes include classroom training, hands-on construction work experience, field trips to job sites, apprentice training, etc. all AT NO CHARGE. We'd like to give a huge thank you to Zonta Club of the Coos Bay Area for inviting us to participate in their annual Girls Rock it Tools & Trades camp for the third year, as well as OCATEC for hosting the camp! This year we were able to set up a lab and showed these young women firsthand that they don't have to fit into a traditional mold to be successful electricians, that it can be a good fit for any shape and size. We always enjoy these opportunities to reach out to the next generation and educate them on the benefits and opportunities within reach with IBEW apprenticeship. As always, it was an inspiring experience to witness the spark within these girls and the drive to learn and grow, and we look forward to contributing to GRiTT camp again next year!

Our Women's Committee is currently attending Tradeswomen Build Nations 2023 in Washington, DC. Almost 4000 Sisters from building trades all over the US and Canada are in attendance this year, making it the largest gathering of Tradeswomen in the world to date!
