The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has officially recognized a fifth type of diabetes after decades of debate. The condition was first identified in Jamaica in 1955, but was largely ignored for many years.

Depression is a common ailment of type 1 diabetes. I have an emotional support animal to help me through bad times. His name is Beaker. He is a tiny 1+ pound Call duck. He is also famous. Look up "petting a white duck" and you will see memes of him. He is such a joy.

After having been on a Medtronic insulin pump since November of 2004, Emily finally made the switch to the Omnipod 5 and Dexcom G6 this past summer of 2023. Since the switch, her A1C has decreased from being in the 7s all the way down to 5.9! Science has come a long way since Emily was first diagnosed, and she’s very grateful that she can be nearly as healthy as a non-diabetic!
