In September, I shared my vision with you - an outreach mission for via Heart Centered Matters!

My goal was to begin with 12,000 lunch napkins containing messages of hope for middle school aged children.

What inspired this idea? A combination of two things:

1.) Every school day, from the time my girls were in kindergarten until middle school, I wrote them a note on their lunch napkin to remind them that they are loved, valued, special, smart, and beautiful.

2.)Then, last year I read a story of a woman who sought to save lives by delivering messages of hope.

When I read this inspiration story, it sparked an idea. We all know how powerful words can be. The good news is, words are free and they can be used to build others up.

Adolescence and teens are the ones most in need of being lifted up with messages of hope. I thought, ‘What if every kid just had one (or one extra) message of hope per day?’ It could brighten their day, make them feel more loved, or even save their life.

Well, the 12,000 napkins are here and ready to be distributed!!!

If you’d like to help with by:

1.) Contacting a school in your district to request and set up a delivery
2.) Delivering napkins to a school
3.) Voting on/suggesting messages for napkin text
4.) Donating for future napkin purchases
5.) Collaborating a fundraiser (for other nonprofit owners)

Although life can be challenging at times, please don't ever feel isolated, even if you don't have a trusted relative to confide in.

From speaking with your school counselor and calling a helpline to finding the ideal therapist - there's always someone there offering their support.

Here are some suggestions:

✨School Counselors & Psychologists: Your school might offer professional counsellors or psychologists who are ready to offer guidance

✨Helplines: Dial 1-800-273-TALK for immediate support or text 'HELLO' to 741741 to reach immediate helplines

✨Online Platforms: Check out apps such as TeenCounseling & 7 Cups for resources and counseling

✨Local Therapists: Browse local clinics or private therapists who specialize specifically in Youth Therapy to find your perfect match

We understand the weight of life can become too much to bear at times. Please remember it's okay to seek assistance when needed.

Financial constraints should never stand in your way when seeking mental health support. There are resources available that can help make mental healthcare accessible, even during challenging financial times. There are many low-cost and free online therapy options for virtual support that may help.

If you find yourself suffering, don't be ashamed to reach out for help from professionals; mental wellbeing is something everyone deserves and there's always someone there for support.

Recognizing red flags in relationships is crucial for maintaining well-being and avoiding potentially harmful situations. Here are five ways to identify red flags:

1-Trust your instincts: If something feels off in the relationship, it's essential to acknowledge and explore those feelings. Your intuition can often pick up on subtle signs indicating a red flag.

2-Observe behaviour patterns: Look for consistent patterns of behavior that raise concerns. This could include excessive jealousy, controlling tendencies, frequent anger or aggression, disrespect, or a lack of empathy. Patterns are often more telling than isolated incidents.

3-Assess communication dynamics: Evaluate how communication occurs within the relationship. Are there frequent arguments, manipulation, or gaslighting? Healthy communication involves respect, active listening, and open dialogue. It may be a red flag if communication consistently becomes toxic or one-sided.

Pay attention to how your partner respects your boundaries and consent in various situations, whether physical, emotional, or sexual. A healthy relationship should contribute to your well-being, personal growth, and happiness. If the relationship consistently negatively impacts your mental, emotional, or physical health, taking that as a red flag is essential.
