April is Child Abuse Prevention Month 💙

After more than 20 years working with children and families, I’ve seen firsthand what happens when we wait too long to act.

We rally when something goes wrong.
We respond when a child is hurt.
We investigate after the damage is done.

But what if we shifted our focus?

What if we invested just as much—if not more—into prevention?

Prevention looks like:
• Supporting parents before they reach a breaking point
• Teaching healthy co-parenting and communication
• Providing safe, structured visitation when families are in crisis
• Offering early intervention instead of waiting for removal
• Seeing families not as problems—but as people who need support

Most families don’t start out in crisis. They get there without the tools, support, or resources they need.

And here’s the truth:
We cannot punish our way into stronger families.
We must build them.
