Join our mission for health education at Samaritan Geary St Clinic. 🏥 Our "Sweet Talk/Conversación Dulce" empowers those with diabetes with practical, evidence-based tools. 🍽️

'Sweet Talk' is tailored for low health literacy adults, ensuring everyone can access health education. 🤝 Coached by experts, participants learn self-management and improve well-being.

🔑 Education is a crucial tool for individuals facing the challenges of diabetes, particularly in underserved areas where access to healthcare services can be limited. Recently, Global Nutrition Empowerment (GNE) embarked on a meaningful journey to Guatemala, collaborating with esteemed organizations like Faith In Practice, Local Hope - Guatemala's "Xela AID" Partnerships for Self Reliance, and Partners In Development, Inc. Together, we aimed to empower local communities by promoting education as a vital resource for managing diabetes and improving overall health.

💡 GNE introduced our groundbreaking "Sweet Talk" program. Sweet Talk/Conversación Dulce" is an innovative teaching initiative that empowers individuals with diabetes or prediabetes to take control of their self-management journey. To add a touch of fun and camaraderie, we even incorporated a delightful card game, ensuring three hours of interactive learning filled with laughter and connection. During our initiative, we had the privilege of sharing the educational class with a total of 20 participants, and certified 8 passionate local diabetes coaches who are equipped with education kits to continue educating participants within their communities.

🌍 Our commitment doesn't end there. We are determined to expand our nutrition education efforts to reach low-literacy and underserved populations, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive and gain the knowledge necessary to manage their own health effectively. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible partners who have empowered us to work hand in hand with their communities, promoting health and well-being together!

As GNE's mission evolves, we have found that empowering health through education is one of the most cost effective and impactful measures we can do to help vulnerable populations. With this mission in mind, we are developing interactive, fun and culturally-focused education apps for digital tablets that will allow us to expand our outreach and empower local communities through nutrition around the world!

Local elections are today in Nepal! Let's all wish success to Capt. Dam Pun, GNE's big supporter here in Nepal, who is chairperson of Annapurna gaunpalika, but has chosen not to run in favour of pursuing a central ticket later.

Captain Dam has been working to get better micronutrient nutrition for women of childbearing age in his Myagdi disctrict and his jurisdiction of for over a decade.

He has supported numerous community agriculture projects such as soil testing and soil testing trainings of (community farmers groups) and agriculture pop-up clinics with Global Nutrition Empowerment (GNE).

In May, GNE hosted our first Virtual Festival and Fundraiser “GNE: Zooming Towards Good Nutrition”. Thank you for everyone who was able to join. With your contributions, we were able to raise over $9,000 for these impactful programs. The digital outreach allowed people from around the world to join us and expanded our community of supporters. We celebrated the cultures of the regions we volunteer in and shared authentic music and insights from the regions we volunteer in, highlighting Guatemala, Nepal and Indonesia as well as some local Oregon based musicians. Our program leaders shared an overview of our past and current programs as well as the impact COVID has had on these regions. Big thank you to everyone that was able to participate and join us for this celebration.
